Biden-Appointed Judge Strikes Down New Hampshire Proof-of-Citizenship Voting Law

A federal judge appointed by former President Joe Biden has struck down a New Hampshire election law that required first-time voters registering on Election Day to provide proof of U.S. citizenship before casting a ballot.
The ruling, issued by U.S. District Judge Samantha Elliott, blocks enforcement of the law ahead of this year’s elections and hands a victory to the American Civil Liberties Union and other left-leaning groups that challenged the measure in court.
Republicans who supported the law argued it was a commonsense safeguard designed to strengthen election integrity and ensure that only American citizens participate in the state’s elections.
