Newsom’s Reign of Madness: California’s Modern-Day Caligula

Just as the deranged Roman emperors—Caligula, Nero, and Commodus—turned the empire’s treasury and laws into weapons against their own people, Gov. Gavin Newsom now seeks to seize 100% of any federal compensation awarded to Californians harmed by government weaponization.

Insulated by absolute power, these rulers squandered vast resources on vendettas, bizarre decrees, and self-glorification while their subjects suffered. Caligula’s paranoid confiscations, Nero’s indifferent ruin, and Commodus’s delusional grandeur were not mere failures—they were deliberate punishments inflicted to spite rivals and reality itself.

Newsom follows the same mad logic.

On May 27, 2026, Newsom announced California will impose a 100% state tax on any resident receiving funds from the Trump administration’s $1.8 billion Anti-Weaponization Fund. He branded it a “January 6 slush fund” and ordered every penny seized by the state.

Created from a settlement in Trump’s IRS lawsuit over leaked tax returns, the fund compensates victims of genuine political lawfare—not just January 6 defendants, but parents targeted at school boards, businesses crushed by overregulation, and ordinary citizens caught in federal crosshairs.

It's not Newsom.

Future dem-communist governors of California will be worse.
MUCH worse.

There's little that can be done for California now, except to let it keep going as it's going.
Right off the cliff. And then -- and only then -- go in and pick up the pieces.

Something I was considering the other day...
Remember how much blood was shed the last time some states seceded from the Union?

A question for every member of the forum (but I predict no one will have the courage to answer):
Suppose, just suppose, that tomorrow California declared itself an independent nation and no longer part of the United States.
Would YOU be willing to send YOUR children or grandchildren to shed their blood to keep Cali as part of the United States?

Again, I CHALLENGE YOU to reply "yes" or "no".

No I would not. If Cali were to leave...they will be back of their own accord. Too much government assistance would be lost. Too much tourism.

Depends.  If they wish to install a social hellhole country and live with it until the whole state burns, that's one thing.

If California began aligning itself deeply with an enemy like China, there is zero chance the rest of America would not unite to prevent dangerous foreign intrusion on our soil.

And the access of that state to the critical Pacific seaboard ports would not be given up by the US.

And BTW, we wouldn't have to send anybody there.  160,000 troops already are in California, the most in any state.
