Victory! Court Refuses to Block Trump’s Secure Elections Order

Agrees with FAIR that the order is within President’s authority
WASHINGTON—Today, the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia refused to issue an injunction against an executive order by President Trump meant to ensure that only citizens vote in federal elections. The Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR) had filed a brief with the court making the case that the President has full authority under the Constitution to give this order.
Today, the Court agreed that the President did not exceed his constitutional authority, and thus found that the activist plaintiffs were unlikely to succeed in their challenge to his executive order. The Court accordingly denied the plaintiffs’ motion for an injunction.
“To the extent aliens vote, citizens don’t govern themselves,” said Christopher J. Hajec, deputy general counsel of FAIR. “So when President Trump gives an order designed to keep aliens from voting, he is protecting government by the people, as he has full constitutional authority to do. We are pleased the Court rejected the plaintiffs’ denatured view of the President’s power and denied the injunction.”
The cases are DSCC v. Trump, No. 1:26-01114, League of United Latin American Citizens v. Executive Office of the President, No. 1:26-cv-01132, and National Association for the Advancement of Colored People v. Trump, No. 1:26-cv-01151 (D.D.C.).
