The South Carolina Senate on Tuesday rejected the House-passed resolution to extend a legislative session to consider redistricting.
The newly-drawn Congressional map eliminates Democrat Rep. Jim Clyburn’s district.
The state Senate failed to reach the two-thirds majority required to advance the redistricting vote.

This is not the end for redistricting efforts in South Carolina. Tuesday’s rejection just made it more difficult for South Carolina to redraw its congressional map.
