Somebody needs to tell this large woman that there are no Democratic states, as the US Constitution dictates all states are guaranteed to have a Republican form of government.

But then the Constitution never really mattered to her, did it?

Abrams: It’s No Longer Blue or Red — ‘There Are Authoritarian States and Democracy States’
Thursday on MS NOW’s “The Weeknight,” author Stacey Abrams said there were no longer blue states and red states.

Instead, she said that there were only “authoritarian states and democracy states.”

Abrams said, “My parents grew up without the Voting Rights Act. My parents were born in 1949. They were in college before the Voting Rights Act passed. And what we have to understand is that there is no longer blue states and red states, there are authoritarian states and democracy states. There are states that do not believe in the right of the people to have a say, who want to aggregate power and foment corruption. And there are states that want to guarantee that in this country we have free and fair elections. We have access to the remedies that democracy is supposed to deliver, and that no matter what goes wrong in one part of the country, that the quality of your citizenship does not depend on your zip code and your geography. I started the Ten Steps campaign because we’ve got to understand that authoritarianism is a political system designed to achieve ideological ends, and the ideological ends intended by this regime do not include most of us.”

She added, “If you believe that Christian nationalism should be the law of the land, if you want pronatalism, where women are relegated to simply serving as vessels for a man’s intention. If you believe that white supremacy should be allowed to diminish the value of everyone else, then you want authoritarian in states to win. But if you believe in democracy as the currency of America, then you want California and New York. You want every state that’s willing to fight back to do so.”

I see that Abrams tossed out the mandatory Democrat Word of the Month. This month it is "corruption" - nearly every Democrat I've heard in the last week has used it.

But Abrams also lays this curious neologism on us: "pronatalism".

From its use in context, the word appears to refer to the idea that as an important objective of humanity, we ought to encourage women to bear children.

In today's Democrat Party, the single most necessary condition for the long-term survival of our society is apparently a controversial matter.

Otherwise, we get the usual (by now, ritual) false accusations of "authoritarianism", "Christian nationalism" and "white supremacy" as well as the ubiquitous misuse of "democracy", as though it accurately referred to America's chosen form of government.

  • I was a "conspiracy theorist". Now I'm just right.
I suppose the "Democracy states" are, in typical Democrat Orwellian parlance, actually the most totalitarian.

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. Bernays quite literally wrote the book on propaganda.

Indeed.  But I'm not sure it's Orwellian.  There is a reason the Founders were suspicious of democracy, and built anti-democratic measures into the Constitution:  the original concept of the Senate as representatives of the States, not the people, the Electoral College, a Supreme Court with life tenure, and the Bill of Rights (as Kevin Williamson described it back when he wrote for National Review Online:  here's a list of things you idiots don't get to vote on).  The knew democracy led to demagogues with what we now call "totalitarian" tendencies rising to the top, and hoped to prevent it.

Unfortunately Woodrow Wilson managed to make, if not the world, at least the United States "safe for democracy".

What *is* Orwellian is calling states that restrain the reach of government so that popular enthusiasms do not translate into tyranny "authoritarian".

The title "POPE" was a blatant ripoff from the Dr Who franchise.

I never saw the episode, it came after when I quit watching the franchise, sometime during Voyager.  It wasn't over politics, it was because the plots got stupid and unbelievable.  I have no idea what Series that ultra-stupid episode with Abrams was in...but we all knew Star Trek was hopelessly Lefty by then.

Hate to say it, but it's good that Gene Roddenberry and his wife, Majel Barrett had passed by then.

Yeah... I think that Obama's "people" (Susan Rice, Ben Rhodes, Valerie Jarrett, et al.) were clearly running things in the Oval Office while Biden was drooling in his porridge, but that hardly forgives him from public appearances and speeches where he mixed duplicity, confusion and inchoate anger into a toxic stew.

@andy58-in-nh When you have a little time read up on Edward M. House, Woodrow Wilson’s top advisor, and much of America’s recent history starts to make sense. He called the Constitution “grotesque,” picked the original Federal Reserve board, and helped lay the blueprint for subversion and managed decline.

Thank you. I am quite familiar with him, actually - initially through the research done by Glenn Beck. In addition to being a lifelong racist, House wrote Philip Dru: Administrator, a virtual paean to collectivism and administrative dictatorship as a virtuous form of government.

Ah, bucktooth.

They love calling us fascists, without a hint of irony.

Meanwhile, they're the tyrants who insist we must wear seatbelts or be pulled over, helmets for bikes or hunt you down, and use curly-fry lightbulbs and low-flow toilets and give us no choice.

Yet, we're the fascists.
