The man accused of attempting to assassinate President Donald Trump at Saturday’s White House Correspondents’ Dinner also shot a Secret Service agent’s bulletproof vest, according to NBC News.

Cole Thomas Allen, 31, was armed with a shotgun, handgun, and knives when he charged through a security checkpoint inside the Washington Hilton Hotel, where the event was being held.

One floor above the ballroom packed with government officials and reporters, Allen discharged one of his weapons, hitting a Secret Service agent in the vest, NBC reported on Wednesday. Some early reports indicated the agent may have been hit by friendly fire. The Secret Service agent was released from the hospital over the weekend.

Do they mean a shotgun pellet?  Didn't he only fire his shotgun?  Covering their butt's?  If they've been analyzing the "bullet" to try to ascertain from whence is came there is something seriously wrong here, since it was only a pellet or two.

I believe the official word is that the agent was shot only by the shotgun, so "friendly fire" apparently didn't happen. At fairly close range, it wouldn't have been just a pellet or two, though, would it?

Jeanine Pirro was just on Fox saying the agent was not shot by friendly fire...the empty shotgun cartridge was still in the shotgun...

General rule for buckshot is 1 inch of spread for 1 yard of travel. At 5 yards (15 ft.) a 5 inch circle; 10 yards (30 ft.) ten inch circle, etc.

In an enclosed venue, the shot was likely under 10 yards; If 00 Buckshot, he may have been hit by all of the pellets. If a slug, he likely got hit by 7/8 of an ounce of lead, and the presence of a cellphone inside the vest would have spread the impact force considerably: <1 inch squared to about ten square inches, reducing it by a factor of roughly ten in terms of PSI (not accounting for the deformation of the phone nor energy absorbed by the vest).

One was dismantling one of the metal detectors.
These guys were in that 'the rush is over, time to stand down' mode that shouldn't exist until the event is over. Only the dog was still paying attention.

The criticism of that night is plain and simple.  The secret service once again was incompetent.  Perhaps rent-a-cops would have done better.  Thankfully the gunman fell, otherwise President Trump and/or VP Vance may not be alive.

Court documents filed in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania and obtained by Channel 11 give insight into the threatening statement Chandler is suspected of making.

According to the affidavit, Chandler left a voicemail on April 18 for an unidentified member of Congress, in which he asked the individual to imagine that 1,000 people “pull you out of your house and  they slit your throat and they slit your daughter’s throat and they slit everyone’s throat.”

Chandler stated that this must happen because “wealth concentration has gotten so bad in this country,” the affidavit says. ...
