Do the mullahs need a non-nuclear Hiroshima motivation?

As Trump and his team have told us, we have tools in the toolbox that no one has ever seen before.

James Zumwalt | April 10, 2026

There is a frightening similarity between the mindset of the mullahs in refusing to accept an unconditional surrender to end the war in Iran and the mindset of the Japanese leadership also unwilling to initially accept such a surrender towards World War II’s end.

Unbeknownst to the Japanese, the U.S. had developed a never-before used weapon—the atomic bomb—as we knew enemy incalcitrance might well leave us with no other option than to launch a costly invasion—in terms of American lives—of the islands. Fortunately for us, however, the shock of dropping two atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki on August 6, 1945 and August 9 respectively and the horrific devastation left by a technology Japan had never seen before was sufficient to force Tokyo to capitulate, accepting an unconditional surrender.

But this raises a question as to what may currently be needed and available to similarly convince the mullahs any continuing resistance by them is senseless. Is there any new technology of which the U.S. may now be in possession that can be held over the mullahs’ heads to show them they are playing with fire? The answer is twofold: yes to the first and maybe to a second, with neither technology involving a nuclear capability.

One has already been battle-tested earlier this year. It was used on January 3, 2026, enabling a relatively small U.S. force to access a very secure base in Venezuela, plucking its president out from among a cast of thousands of defenders who were protecting him, and transporting him to the U.S. to stand trial for drug-related charges. What incredible technology allowed this to happen?

Title and presumption:
"Do the mullahs need a non-nuclear Hiroshima motivation?"

Fishrrman answers:
Without the "nuclear", there cannot BE "a Hiroshima motivation".

Sometimes, you just gotta do... what ya gotta do.

The capture of the Russian device. Afterward, it was modified to whatever state it is in at present.
