The British, along with a few other European countries, are under the belief that they can extend their authoritarian censorship regimes into the United States. Last year the British, Germans, and French were even proposing to arrest American citizens who violated their censorship laws by posting things in the USA that violate their laws.
They seriously wanted to extradite Americans like Elon Musk to face trial in their countries for acts of free speech.
I quote from the preamble to the North Atlantic Charter (NATO):
The Parties to this Treaty reaffirm their faith in the purposes and principles of the Charter of the United Nations and their desire to live in peace with all peoples and all governments.
They are determined to safeguard the freedom, common heritage and civilisation of their peoples, founded on the principles of democracy, individual liberty and the rule of law.
Seems to me that a growing number of NATO member countries are absolutely violating the principles of democracy, individual liberty and the rule of law not to mention trying to impose those abhorrent regimes of theirs upon the American people.
In this I agree with the prevailing attitude of the Trump Administration that it is perhaps time for America to reevaluate our membership in NATO.
Seriously, when the UK is arresting and prosecuting far more people for speech violations than Russia does then just what the hell are we helping to protect in England?
It is clearly an eventuality that an American will be arrested and prosecuted in Europe for free speech in America. And at that point the Europeans must face our wrath.
