DHS shutdown forces airports to tell travelers to arrive 4 hours early amid massive delays
TSA website and app are paused since Feb 17, leaving passengers without up-to-date wait time information

As the lapse in funding at the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) continues, TSA agents have been grappling with partial paychecks — and soon-to-be-empty paychecks if the shutdown persists.

These days, the shutdown is causing massive delays at some airports across the country, with wait times for travelers of 3.5 hours reported at major hubs due to officer shortages.

The TSA website and app paused operations on Feb. 17. The site "will not be updated until after funding is enacted," the TSA says on its site — leaving travelers high and dry when it comes to finding wait time information.

A TSA spokesperson told Fox News Digital on Monday that staff managing the website and app have been furloughed.

"Some individual airports track [security line] wait times, [so] we would point them [in] that direction," said the spokesperson.

I'm flying to Florida on 3/22. My friend, who flew last week, said there won't be much of a delay for the very early morning flight, but coming home in the evening will be bad.  :crying:

My first flight since 2019. I hate to fly.

(last time I flew on a big jet was 1984. Won't be getting on one again...)

It's funny to me how flying has degraded. At one time it was a privilege and treat to fly. A passenger dressed up and acted politely.

It has become a nightmare. Lines, rude employees, rude employees...and did I mention rude employees? lol Get there 4 hours early. Heck, I can usually drive to where I'm going in 4 hours or a little more. And if I can't there is always the telephone or facetime. As far as seeing beautiful scenery, I guess I'll have to see it on tv.

I haven't flown since pre 9/11. It wasn't pleasant then and I vowed to never fly again. And geezer that I am...I haven't.

I will never fly commercial again in my life.  Greyhounds, Trains or Automobiles.

I'm with you on this one.  With all the airplane crashes and now this TSA blunder, why risk flying?  Buses, trains and autos are the way to travel.  They are less expensive as well and traveling by autos give you more flexibility and taking a bus tour is pretty darn awesome.
