Nobody Trusts Elections -- That’s the Crisis

Trust must be earned through transparency, consistent rules, and procedures that make fraud difficult and detection easy.

Brian C. Joondeph | February 16, 2026

One of the most corrosive realities in contemporary American electoral politics isn't polarization, misinformation, or even foreign interference. It is something more basic: a majority of Americans no longer trust the integrity of their elections.

This is not a fringe belief limited to one party or ideology. According to polling from Rasmussen Reports, ahead of the 2024 presidential election, 62 percent of likely voters were “concerned that cheating will affect the outcome of the 2024 election.”

This skepticism crosses party lines and has persisted over the years. The pattern is clear: whichever party loses a presidential election claims the winning party cheated.

I trust elections ... with automatic recounts and automatic audits.

Some people are sore losers, and just don't like the results.

Politics is a competition of ideas, and elections are a competition of candidates.  Currently, both parties lack confidence in what they have to offer the unwashed masses (ideas and candidates), so, they complain the game is rigged.

The Patriots lost the SuperBowl to the Seahawks.  Patriots' fans think some missed referree calls
were missed.  I have a couple of choices ... accept that the Seahawks were the better team during that game ... or believe the Patriots were robbed by bad officiating.

The Seahawks won.  Plain and simple.  Game over.  On to the 2026/2027 season.  Hopefully the Pats will get some offensive linemen that know how to move forward, and not just reverse.

I'd rather have the Pats put their resources into building a better team for the next season, instead of whining 'We wuz robbed'.  There are wins and losses.  If you aren't willing to learn from your losses, you have no business playing the game.

The GOP doesn't learn from its losses.  It keeps putting the same team on the field, and expects better results.  That's why Trump had to step in, and take over the GOP.  Without Trump, the GOP would have nothing, zilch, nada - just vapid criminal referrals from Congressman, James Comer.
"Political correctness is a doctrine fostered by a delusional, illogical minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it’s entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end." - Alan Simpson, Frontline Video Interview

Republicans would rather complain about election fraud than to do anything to stop it.
If a political party does not have its foundation in the determination to advance a cause that is right and that is moral, then it is not a political party; it is merely a conspiracy to seize power.     -Dwight Eisenhower-

"The [U.S.] Constitution is a limitation on the government, not on private individuals ... it does not prescribe the conduct of private individuals, only the conduct of the government ... it is not a charter for government power, but a charter of the citizen's protection against the government."     -Ayn Rand-

The SAVE Act would go a long way toward helping to re-establish electoral integrity.

Just look how the Senate Democrats are prepared to go to war over something that has 80% voter approval.

It will take more than that, however. The abuse of mail-in and absentee ballots, especially in blue city precincts also needs to be addressed.

That is how the 2020 election was stolen - and I will always believe that. My confidence about that fraud has only grown as time has passed. Five states simply stopped counting votes late on election night, and in at least one critical county in each of those states, the Democrat machine got busy "finding" all the votes they needed.
"If all men are created equal, that is final. If they are endowed with inalienable rights, that is final. If governments derive their just powers from the consent of the governed, that is final. No advance, no progress can be made beyond these propositions. If anyone wishes to deny their truth or their soundness, the only direction in which he can proceed historically is not forward, but backward toward the time when there was no equality, no rights of the individual, no rule of the people."    -Calvin Coolidge

The SAVE Act will correct some of the biggest problems. It'a already passed the House, bet it never gets pas the Senate, even though they got enough votes to go nuclear.

But they'd rather have their traditions, than realize that fixing these problems would help the GOP in elections.

Nope, we are the Mike Pence wing of the party. We must be civil, above the fray, honor traditions, hands off, not inflame the Rats, not engage in confrontation so that we can walk around in the clouds and feel self-righteous.
The Republic is lost.
