Former Army colonel sentenced to 2 years for sharing classified war plans with woman he met online

A retired United States Army colonel has been sentenced to two years in federal prison for sending a woman he met online classified information about U.S. war plans, federal authorities announced Wednesday.

Kevin Charles Luke, 62, pleaded guilty in October 2025, admitting to abusing a position of public trust as part of his plea agreement.

Prosecutors accused Luke of sharing classified information in October 2024 when he was a civilian employee at United States Central Command in Tampa, Fla.

ent to my boss earlier, gives you a peek at what I do for a living,” Luke wrote to the woman in a text message from his personal phone, followed by a photo of a computer screen that displayed an email he had sent using his government email address.

[H]umanity repeats the worst mistakes of previous generations and ... every free, prosperous civilization will eventually be destroyed by that small fraction of its people who find no satisfaction in anything but anger.
