Rep. Gimenez warns of Cuba collapse, calls for strong U.S. sanctions, cites Berlin Wall

Florida Republican U.S. Rep. Carlos Gimenez said Cuba’s communist government is facing severe economic and political strain and called on the United States to intensify pressure on the island’s leadership.

Gimenez described the Cuban government as “collapsing in real time,” citing widespread shortages of food, medicine, electricity, and fuel, as well as prolonged power outages. He blamed the crisis on decades of economic mismanagement and authoritarian rule.

The congressman, who was born in Cuba and represents South Florida, argued that the United States is closer than ever to seeing political change in Havana and stressed the importance of avoiding easing sanctions or repeating past engagement policies.

In an opinion column published by Fox News, Gimenez wrote, “For more than six decades of repression, the regime is weaker today than at any point in my lifetime — and I know that personally. I lived under it. I fled it.”

He credited President Donald Trump and Secretary of State Marco Rubio for aggressively enforcing U.S. sanctions and cutting off financial lifelines to the Cuban government. “Thanks to President Donald Trump’s decisive leadership and the aggressive enforcement of U.S. law, championed by Secretary of State Marco Rubio, the regime is being hit where it hurts most: its ability to finance repression,” Gimenez wrote.

He said restricting oil shipments, remittances, and international business dealings has weakened the regime’s ability to fund its operations............

If we are to stop the Left in this Country from destroying it, we need to end the fraudsters feeding at the Federal trough (stop financing the opposition), and make them deplete their own resources to push their agenda.
The entire illegal invasion was financed with our money, either through taxes or debt, and continues to be subsidized from the pockets of taxpayers who have no say whatsoever in that distribution.

It must stop. Fund ICE for the next ten years, no more of this hat-in-hand to the democrats to get the job done, because they will only offset the effort if they cannot thwart it.
