Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani is reportedly poised to elevate a deeply controversial figure to one of the most powerful legal posts in his administration. According to the New York Post, Ramzi Kassem—a lawyer who has defended an al Qaeda terrorist and a radical anti-Israel activist at Columbia—is the leading candidate for Chief Counsel.

Kassem is already a part of Mamdani’s inner circle, serving as a legal affairs adviser on the transition team. He also teaches law at the City University of New York, further underscoring the ideological extremism he intends to bring into City Hall.

    Kassem, 47, was one of the attorneys who defended Mahmoud Khalil, a Syrian-born leader of the pro-Palestinian encampment at Columbia who was detained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement and earmarked for deportation. However, after 104 days in a detention camp judges ruled he should be released.

    In addition to Khalil, Kassem helped to defend terrorist Ahmed al-Darbi, an al Qaeda member who was convicted in 2017 of bombing a French oil tanker, the Limburg, off the coast of Yemen in 2002.

    “Kassem’s appointment to corp counsel wouldn’t sit well with the Jewish community,” said Ken Frydman, a Democratic political operative.

    “Everyone’s entitled to legal representation…even Mahmoud Khalil. But that doesn’t mean Ramzi Kassem had to represent him,” he added to The Post.

Kassem’s history leaves little mystery about where his sympathies lie. Born in Syria, he immersed himself in anti-Israel activism while at Columbia Law School, where records show he attended on a fellowship funded by members of the Soros family’s left-wing activist network.

His hostility toward Israel surfaced early and often in the pages of the Columbia Spectator. In a 1999 letter to the editor, Kassem complained that calling a sandwich an “Israeli wrap” was offensive to Muslims and Arabs. In other columns, he went much further, accusing Israel of engaging in “a clear case of ethnic cleansing.” In a 1998 article, he claimed Jews arrived in the Middle East “with the intention of conquering the land” and dismissed the idea of a two-state solution, writing that it “is not viable, nor is it desirable.”

First thing this morning, an event took place that few imagined possible a year ago: Zohran Mamdani was sworn in as the 111th mayor of New York City. For both the slim majority of New Yorkers who voted for him and the near half of the electorate who opposed him, Mamdani’s entry into Gracie Mansion caps the most improbable political journey in modern American history.
 
How on earth did a man, barely 34-years old, with an Ozempic-slim resume and practically zero managerial experience, rise to lead the cultural and economic heart of the United States, if not the entire planet? And how will his populist, socialist, anti-Zionist worldview translate into governing a city of nearly nine million residents and overseeing a workforce some 300,000 strong?

The truth is nobody really knows. But the evidence of the months since his election victory in November isn’t promising.

Mamdani is sticking with his penchant for Trumpian showmanship, hosting a massive block party to celebrate his swearing in literally at the doorstep of City Hall. However, the festivities are likely to ring hollow for millions of New Yorkers nervous about what is likely to come next.

You can see why democrats and Muslims get along so well.  To democrats, party loyalty is a religion much like Islam is to Muslims.  The wrongness or rightness of a position means nothing if the party approves it.  So, to democrats, what Imam Mamdani says or does is irrelevant as long as it is his position.  Rightness or wrongness is not even a consideration.

You may remember Julie Su from multiple failed confirmation hearings during the Biden administration. Even by the standards of the Biden administration, the $32 billion in fraud that happened on Su’s watch seemed like it might be a bit too much.

Under Su, the head of California Labor and Workforce Development Agency, an estimated $32.6 billion in unemployment insurance EDD fraud took place.

And when I say fraud took place, I mean the kind of fraud that a small child could have spotted. Literally. One of the applicants was using the name “Poopy Pants”.

In today’s article, ‘California’s ‘Wealth’ Tax Wouldn’t Even Cover the Cost of Fraud’, I noted that “Prison inmates received over $1 billion in fraudulent claims including $421,000 paid out to death row inmates. The Employment Development Department flagged 345,000 disability insurance claims and found that 98% of the 27,000 medical providers listed on the claims were fake.”

 Zohran Mamdani eliminates daily NYPD briefings, demotes police Commissioner Jessica Tisch

Newly sworn-in M*slim Mayor Zohran Mamdani has restructured City Hall to eliminate direct daily intelligence briefings from the NYPD commissioner to the mayor.

The protocol was put in place to help keep the nation's top terrorist target safe from threats ranging from lone-wolf extremists to coordinated plots. Critics say the move undermines information flow that is necessary for protecting eight million residents in a city that has prevented over two dozen terror attacks since 2001, including foiled subway bombings and vehicle-ramming schemes.

Mamdani's executive order changes the structure of the mayor's office, placing NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch under a deputy mayor rather than reporting directly to the mayor himself - so the NYPD commish will no longer have access to the mayor. This effectively demotes Tisch by moving her to a lower spot on the operational chain that includes oversight of city services like garbage collection.
Tisch, who agreed to stay on even though she disagrees with Mamdani's anti-police stance, now faces added bureaucratic layers.
In addition, Mamdani has also canceled an executive order that beefed up NYPD patrols around synagogues and Jewish institutions during rising antisemitic crimes, attacks and assaults nationwide.

The FBI reports show a surge in hate crimes against Jewish communities following the October 7th attack by the Hamas terrorists.
Mamdani has also hiked subway and bus fares to $3 effective January 4 - despite campaigning on free public transit. Mamdani's backtracking isn't isolated to transit.

Promises already being broken:
Campaigning on stopping increases for over a million rent-stabilized units to combat housing costs, Mamdani has not issued an executive order to freeze rent, even as his inaugural executive orders focused on tenant protections.

Vowing city-run stores in public buildings to sell essentials at cost and fight food deserts, no steps have materialized as questions continue over funding the $10 billion yearly for his full platform.

This socialist idea was inspired from models in countries like Venezuela (which plunged into starvation and poverty)

Pledged to nearly double the current $16 minimum wage to $30 to boost working-class incomes, but early silence on implementation is raising eyebrows.
