Mamdani schools chancellor pick an ‘idiot’ and ‘ideologue’ to lead nation’s largest education system: source

Socialist Mayor Zohran Mamdani’s schools chancellor is a race-obsessed apparatchik for extreme leftist, anti-merit policy, critics told The Post.

Kamar Samuels, a longtime educator with a history of dismantling Gifted & Talented programs, served as a superintendent of school districts repping parts of Manhattan and Brooklyn before Mamdani tapped him to head the nation’s largest school system.

As a superintendent for District 13 in downtown Brooklyn and then District 3 on the Upper West Side, he pushed for a bevy of woke policies while regularly holding “antiracist” and “equity” town halls.

“I don’t like him, I’ve never liked him; he came in as an ideologue,” a DOE official told The Post, adding he thinks Samuels is an “idiot.”

Fish.  Give him a  chance.  How bad can it be?

Mamdani’s schools chancellor prizes equity over excellence
Opinion by Wai Wah Chin • 15h

Welcome back from the holidays, students — can you spell “integration”? Or better yet, define it?

Probably not, since only 29% of New York City eighth graders are proficient in reading at grade level, according to the National Assessment of Educational Progress’ “Nation’s Report Card.”

How about doing “integration”?

Even less likely, since only 23% of eight graders are proficient in math, and by 12th grade, where calculus and integration are usually taught, far too many students have long fallen behind in algebra and given up entirely on math.

For comparison, calculus is mandatory or often required for university-track high schoolers in countries such as India, Germany, France and Russia.
