The six-game below .500 Orioles (36-42) are on the cusp of winning
the rubber game of a 3 game series against the might Dodgers (49-28)

Dodgers at a +144 in RUN DIFFERENTIAL (Runs Scored/Runs Given Up)
O's at -36 RD

Excellent.

Dodger fans are the whiniest fans in MLB.  Well.....   maybe 3rd behind Yankees and Cubs.

Weird call last night...manager gets tossed for arguing it!!  CUBS Craig Counsell vs. METS.

Baserunner on 1st base takes off on a 3-ball count and draws a throw from the catcher...but it's called "BALL 4"!!

But because the baserunner came off 2nd base after diving head first to beat the tag...he was called "OUT!"

I understand the rule to be that "time" is called...the ball is dead until the baserunners reach their awarded bases.

But in the end...a  tipping hat!!  to the umps!!

Has Fan Graphs jumped the shark?

MLB season is now exactly half over, and FG has the Dodgers at 100% chance of making playoffs.  100%?  Come on.    And almost as absurd, they have the Bums with a 24% chance of winning the WS.  No doubt they are the mid season favorites, but this statistical absurdity?

I have seen playoff level teams lose 3 of 5 starters to injury in short order.

If the runner reached second base and then came off the base without calling time and was tagged, he is out.  The runner is awarded 2nd base, no more.

Oh, I understand the "rule" totally.

Soon as the baserunner on 1st touched 2nd base...it may as well as been a "hidden ball trick".

He needed the presence of mind to call "TIME" to get himself together after the unnecessary head-first slide on the attempted steal.

But it was certainly something you don't see everyday in baseball.   :beer:

Fellow Astros fans....

The LMJ experiment is now finally over.  'Stros trade McCullers to the Brews for another son of a major leaguer. Jadyn Fielder.

Milwaukee will eat $2.5M of LMJ's remaining salary for the year.  Trade is a salary dump, a huge gamble by the Breweres.  OTOH, Cecil Fielder's kid can;'t see to top .230 at "A" Ball.  So this was basically taking the trash to curb event,

In any case, I for one am glad seeing the most fragile man in MLB go.

For all the hoopla every year, the O's starting shortstop....GUNNER HENDERSON...is the worst fielding shortstop I've seen since Cal Ripken Jr's bullshit career.  (Ripken was a natural 3rd basemen and the O's went thru over 2 DOZEN SS's during his non-sensical "Streak"
