Following changes to immigration in Ontario, some with hopes of becoming Canadian permanent residents are navigating a system that's in flux β and they're concerned they'll be left behind.
Seeing it first hand, Muhammad Haseeb Ahmad is anxiously awaiting word on whether he can obtain permanent residency.
βIt's like just waiting and waiting β frustration at its pinnacle," he said.
The 25-year-old from Pakistan completed his master's in applied computing in artificial intelligence (AI) from the University of Windsor in October 2024. He applied to an immigration stream that catered to master's and PhD graduates, and has been waiting ever since.

Trump effect. Canada finally took a look at what used to be England, looked at the foreign immigrant street warfare happening in France and Germany, and said maybe we should slow down on this 'open immigration'.
