Democratic lawmaker arrested for fraud

Democratic Georgia State Representative Sharon Henderson was recently arrested on federal charges of fraudulently collecting pandemic-era unemployment benefits while campaigning for and serving in public office.
Prosecutors allege Henderson improperly received $17,811 in COVID-19 unemployment assistance, Knewz.com has learned.
A federal grand jury reportedly indicted Rep. Henderson on two counts of theft of government funds and 10 counts of making false statements in connection with pandemic unemployment benefits.
The charges stem from claims Henderson allegedly submitted between 2020 and 2021, a period that overlaps with her campaign for the Georgia House and her first months in office after being sworn in.
