President Donald Trump is celebrating the strides made in the affordability crisis since he took office in January 2025.

In a Truth Social post marking one year from Election Day 2024 — where Trump handily defeated former Vice President Kamala Harris — Trump celebrated.

“Happy Anniversary! On this day, November 5th, one year ago, we had one of the Greatest Presidential Victories in History — Such an Honor to represent our Country,” he said, highlighting the “BOOMING” economy and the fact that costs are coming down.

“Affordability is our goal,” Trump said. “Love to the American People!”

ndeed, costs have come down significantly since Trump took the helm from former President Joe Biden and his administration — an administration that oversaw record high gas prices reaching an average of $5.016 in the summer of 2022, egg prices that shot up 147 percent, and skyrocketing inflation. As Breitbart News reported in November 2023, at that time the average U.S. household needed an extra $11,434 per year just to maintain the same standard of living they had only a few years prior.

In contrast, President Donald Trump’s policies have reduced the cost of living on various fronts, with inflation cooling more than expected. During Biden’s term, the annual inflation rate actually peaked to the highest rate in over 40 years at over nine percent.

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

Yep, the cost of groceries in particular is still sky high.  I just paid $16 yesterday at a local store for 2 pounds of hamburger beef.

Trump is following the same path that the Democrats took  to their defeat in 2024

There’s the government economy

And there’s the economy that everybody else is living in

The government economy is full of bar graphs, statistics, pie charts, etc.

But sometimes the economy that people actually live in  does not jive with what the government tells them

So a government that tells people that they’re not seeing what they’re seeing and experiencing what they’re experiencing is toast. Just ask Kamala Harris how bragging about Bidenomics  work for her

When average people are worried about the economy, you don’t tell them “bleep you, things are going great.”

Besides, gas is up around here.

Food just skyrocketed again.  My jaw dropped a bit when I went grocery shopping the other day.  Gas has barely gone down.  The cost of health insurance is at historic high levels.  Homeowners insurance and  property taxes are ridiculous.

So far his economic policies sure aren't what I was expecting from him.  Very disappointed, but he's not seeking re-election and he has more money than most of us, so it doesn't matter a whole lot to him.

He's made tremendous progress at the border which I am thankful for.  However, unless the GOP gets off their butts and starts implementing some laws to back his progress we'll be back to open borders when the DEMS take office.
Live in  harmony with one another; do not be haughty, but associate with the lowly, do not claim to be wiser than you are.  Do not repay anyone evil for evil, but take thought for what is noble in the sight of all.  If it is possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all.

Trump: I Think We Have Inflation ‘Lower than a Normal Number,’ ‘Biggest Problem’ Is GOP Doesn’t Talk About It, Dems Lie
Ian Hanchett 5 Nov 2025

During an interview aired on Wednesday’s broadcast of the Fox News Channel’s “Special Report,” President Donald Trump said that while beef prices have to be lowered, we have inflation “down to a normal number right now, lower than a normal number, in my opinion,” and “the biggest problem is, Republicans don’t talk about it. They don’t talk about the word affordability, and the Democrats lie about it.”

Host Bret Baier read from a viewer who “is not happy about how her prices have not come down, that she sees, and she said this, ‘I want the Republicans to keep control of Congress in 2026, but something HAS to be done fast! I don’t see the best economy right now — Wall Street numbers do not reflect [my] Main Street money. Please do something, President Trump.'” And asked Trump what he says to that viewer “and people like her?”

Trump responded, “I do say this, beef we have to get down. … But we’ve got prices way down. And think of this, energy, she drives a car, probably, and her energy prices are way down. And energy is so all-encompassing, it’s so big, that, when energy goes down, everything comes down, everything follows it. And I have energy down to five, six-year lows now.”

Baier then asked, “You think prices are coming down from this?”

Trump responded, “I think they’re coming down, but I think they’re down already. I think the biggest problem is, Republicans don’t talk about it. They don’t talk about the word affordability, and the Democrats lie about it. Look, when I took over — and I said this — inflation was so bad under Biden, remember, he had the Inflation Reduction Act. It was a scam. And he tried to lower inflation, but he caused the inflation, then he tried to lower the inflation. He took over my economy, where inflation was at 1%, which is perfect, 1%. He drove it nine or ten times higher than that in a short period of time. When I took over, it was a mess. I have inflation way down. I have it down to a normal number right now, lower than a normal number, in my opinion, I think.”

Exact same gaslighting argument that the Biden regime made.

Meat is a huge issue.  Prices are insane.  I wanted to make beef stew this weekend because temps are going to be in the 40's in the morning.  Stew meat was priced at 11.99 a lb?   Are you kidding me?

I'm not trying to be confrontational here, just trying to understand what's happening --- has all food skyrocketed, across the board?  What's the increase meant by "skyrocket"?  What's the price of gas (that hasn't gone up) --- so I can compare it to here?

Aren't homeowners insurance and property taxes a state issue?  And, yes, health insurance is a hot mess .... and has been for years.

Sorry to hear this.  I think Trump cares deeply, which is why he ran in the first place and has taken unprecedented and unrelenting abuse.  But, you're right that other than the BBB, he's not looking for the quick, political fix.

Trump's recalibrating the global economy through tariffs and trade agreements where the US is treated fairly,  he's working to return and secure supply chains, to identify and prepare us for the rapidly emerging global industries, he's traveling the world gathering trillions of dollars in growth investments in our industries.

The President wants our "golden age" to last.

Trump's giving the economy the attention it hasn't received in generations --- and he's been doing it for just months.  Remembering this may not make buying a dozen eggs easier, but it could help folks hang in a little longer  happy77

Business might be great for the Trump family, but I am hearing about layoffs from acquaintances.  Nothing is cheap either.  Everything is a thousand dollars now.  Home improvements?   :thud: I just financed a HVAC, and sure do look forward to those monthly payments.

Smart people have a emergency fund for issues like that.

I was born in 1976 so maybe i'm speaking out of ignorance here but... is this what the 70's were like? I'm getting the feeling that this entire decade is going to be a "lost decade". Trump IMO is a peronist, not a Friedman type. We need Millieu.

That's what happens when government pumps $2 trillion in freshly printed money into the economy every year for over a decade.  Macro 101.

No

The 1970’s were worse. Especially the latter  half

And disco existed in the 1970’s. That intensified the pain
