Olympic hopeful wanted to take a 'joy ride' after feeling 'cooped up,' so she ordered an Uber and then murdered the driver: Police
Story by Chris Perez • 17h

An Olympic hopeful from Colorado allegedly stabbed an Uber driver to death inside his car and then dumped his body in a field and fled in the man's vehicle, later telling cops that she did it because he tried to touch her, according to police.

Khayla Dawson, 27, of Colorado Springs, claims she was going for a "joy ride" late Sunday night when she scheduled an Uber pickup with 38-year-old victim Jeremy Campbell, according to an arrest affidavit filed by the El Paso County Sheriff's Office and obtained by Law&Crime.

Dawson — who competed at the 2024 USA Olympic Trials in Oregon in the shot put, according to local ABC affiliate KRDO — alleges that she fell asleep in Campbell's 2016 Hyundai Santa Fe and woke up to him trying to "sexually assault her." She claims to have "defended herself by stabbing him," according to the affidavit.

Is Khayla a trannnie?
Why would you say that? She certainly was a big girl, but that's not surprising of a shot putter. Weird story, though:

... Deputies said she told them that the man then pulled out a knife, too, before she stabbed him in the neck, and in the struggle that followed, he drove the car through a fence into a field with horses.

She then pulled him out of the car, got in the driver’s seat, and drove his car back to her apartment, the arrest report said.

During a search of Dawson’s apartment, deputies noted that a butcher block was missing a large knife, and said they also found a machete-type knife hidden behind a cabinet in her living room.

The Uber driver’s key fob was also reportedly found hidden in a box of dryer sheets in Dawson’s laundry room, along with his wallet hidden inside a lunch box on top of a kitchen cabinet.

Deputies also said that there was a gap in location tracking on Dawson’s phone that night, indicating that she had turned it off, put it in airplane mode, or shut off the Uber app before being picked up by Campbell. ...
