Flights to LAX halted due to air traffic controller shortage

Flights departing for Los Angeles are being held due to a staffing shortage.

The Federal Aviation Administration said flights departing for Los Angeles International Airport were halted Sunday morning due to a staffing shortage at a Southern California air traffic facility.

The FAA issued a temporary ground stop at one of the world's busiest airports soon after U.S. Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy predicted that travelers would see more flights delayed and canceled in the coming days as the nation's air traffic controllers work without pay during the federal government shutdown.

During an appearance on the Fox News program “Sunday Morning Futures,” Duffy said more controllers were calling in sick as money worries compound the stress of an already challenging job.

“Just yesterday, ... we had 22 staffing triggers. That’s one of the highest that we have seen in the system since the shutdown began. And that’s a sign that the controllers are wearing thin,” he said.

Pilot Unions, Associations Call for Passage of Clean CR to Reopen Government, End Schumer Shutdown

Several pilot unions and associations have issued statements calling for the passage of a clean continuing resolution (CR) in order to reopen the government and end the ongoing shutdown.

Unions such as the Coalition of Airline Pilots Associations (CAPA), the NetJets Association of Shared Aircraft Pilots, the Allied Pilots Association (APA), and the Southwest Airlines Pilots Association (SWAPA), have issued statements calling upon lawmakers to support a clean CR, which Democrats have continued to oppose, according to USA Today.

The statements from the unions come as roughly 13,000 air traffic controllers are currently working without being paid during the ongoing shutdown.

“We have seen the stress and tension this year on the National Airspace System due to short-staffed air traffic controllers,” CAPA said in a statement, according to the outlet. “This shutdown only compounds the pressures they face as they now report to work without a paycheck.

CAPA added that they were calling “on Congress to end the government shutdown by passing a clean Continuing Resolution.”

If you don't need to fly stay far away from any airport. Only fools and the terminally stupid will try to fly.
You don’t become cooler with age but you do care progressively less about being cool, which is the only true way to actually be cool.

These unions are under the mistaken impression that Democrats give a damn about them.

The Democommies have long abandoned unions.  Hell, Wrecking Ball Joe his first week as POTUS unemployed 10,000 highly paid union members working on the pipeline.  All to keep Warren Buffett rolling in more billions transporting the oil from Canada with the railroads he owns.

The time has come for Republicans to use a simple majority to get the government back.  I think the 60 vote requirement in the Senate is idiocy and part of the reason nothing gets done by Congress.

Congress abdicating producing results is just unacceptable.  PERIOD!!!!!!!!!!

I think it is time for more Memes starring Schumer and Jefferies sitting in a terminal.
