JUST IN: Judge releases Chicago suspects charged with ramming cars into federal agents
The judge over the case of two suspects accused of ramming their vehicles into federal agents in Chicago has released them, ordering the two suspects to appear later in court, despite characterizing their actions as "extremely dangerous and extremely reckless."
Judge Heather McShain ordered both Marimar Martinez and Anthony Ruiz to be released on Monday ahead of their trial. The two cases have been joined together, however, they were driving separate cars on Saturday when both of them allegedly rammed their cars into the federal agents. Martinez was shot by federal agents during the incident.
This comes as there has been a push from the Trump administration to crack down on crime and illegal immigration in Chicago, but that has been met with backlash. Residents in Chicago have been attempting to obstruct ICE vehicles in the streets as well as going to and from a Chicago ICE facility.
