Hochul’s Election-Year ‘Inflation Refund’ Checks Can’t Cover Costs Of Her Green Agenda
New Yorkers are paying the price for wallet-squeezing green policies Hochul forced on the state.
by Post Editorial Board  October 02, 2025, 9:13 AM

New Yorkers would be right to feel stiffed when their “inflation refund” checks start arriving in the mail — the measly amount won’t even make a dent in the soaring costs of living under Gov. Kathy Hochul. [emphasis, links added]

On Friday, the gov announced that state residents will see one-time checks of $150 to $400 in their mailboxes in the next couple of months, paid for by the bump in sales tax revenue caused by wallet-walloping inflation.

It’s a blatant gimmick to win over voters ahead of her run for re-election in 2026 — though she’s probably overestimating the goodwill it’ll buy her.

A few hundred extra bucks won’t stretch into next month for most New Yorkers, much less next year.
