What was your first job? Wife

Age? 18

What are some memories of that job? There was quite a learning curve at the outset.

What did you learn from that job?

1. Running from a situation is not a good reason to run to another situation.
2. Reality has a nasty habit of smashing one's preconceived notions.
3. Wanting a baby is not the same thing as having one...or two...or nine.
4. "Love" isn't the only reason to get married. Pragmatism is sometimes more important.
5. In the end the reality is so much more rewarding than the fantasy.  3333hugs

Good and intersting post.

My second job I worked in the toy section of a department store. I made $2.10/hr. which was enough to make my first car payments and insurance.

After I landed a job for an advertising company.  Loads of fun and they offered me a job as a media buyer...I was stupid and young and left for Alaska. Alaska was beautiful and a great experience but leaving the advertising agency was one of the biggest mistakes of my life.

I would have done the same myself @libertybele. The only difference would be that I may not have returned. Everyone I know that has lived in Alaska yearns to return. And truthfully, the difference between the advertising world and AK mst have been stark.

That time at Ford must have been when you were in my then home State!

Yes indeed Dearborn , Michigan.  From what I've read it's a cesspool now, much like the rest of the Detroit area.  Such a shame.
Live in  harmony with one another; do not be haughty, but associate with the lowly, do not claim to be wiser than you are.  Do not repay anyone evil for evil, but take thought for what is noble in the sight of all.  If it is possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all.

I lived in Fairbanks for about two years. Solitude, surrounded by mountains and nature and just breathtakingly beautiful. Yes, I admit though it was a long time ago and  I was young,  I do miss the mountains.

So got married later in life and wound up in FL, stark contrast also to AK. Sigh....I wanted to move to the Blue Ridge mountains when we downsized about 6 years go  but didn't want to leave my kids and grandkids.

Funny how life throws us curves.  My emotions usually win.
