My guess is this isn't the final "final" decision. They're going to let it bleed out before issuing the final decision.

Nexstar Continues Jimmy Kimmel Boycott as Charlie Kirk Backlash Mounts

TV Broadcaster Nextstar Media Group confirmed on Wednesday that it will continue its boycott of ABC’s “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” and will not be airing the show, though the company did say it is in “productive” talks over the issue with ABC.

Kimmel return to late night nets hosts biggest ratings haul in a decade
by Dominick Mastrangelo - 09/25/25 8:56 AM ET

Comedian Jimmy Kimmel’s return to late night on Tuesday earned him his largest television audience in more than a decade, ABC announced on Wednesday.

“Jimmy Kimmel Live,” this week netted more than 6 million viewers on linear broadcast, according to Nielsen Media Research data, despite the show being preempted in what the network said was more than 20 percent of households nationwide.

Those figures do not include the more than 20 million views his opening monologue racked up on YouTube or clips of his show that went viral on social media.

Kimmel’s Tuesday show was widely anticipated following his suspension by Disney, ABC’s parent company, over comments he made last week accusing conservatives of trying to score “political points” off the killing of activist Charlie Kirk and joking that President Trump was mourning his death like “a four-year-old mourns a goldfish.”

The comedian addressed the controversy as he returned, saying it was not his intention to “make light of the murder of a young man,” but blasted Trump’s administration for trying to take him off the air over his jokes.

Viewers tuned in to hear an apology, and they are disappointed.  It appears Sinclair and Nexstar are not giving in, either.  The end result will probably be less than 150K for the target age group.

I thought I would be "stylish" and tune into his show the other night.  My local networks (Panama city) blacked it out.  With my antenna I can pick a million watt channel out of Dothan AL.  Blacked out too.  I didn't check our area pravda station in Tallahassee.

No one seemed to complain.  No Oped's or letters to the editor.

Sinclair to Bring Back ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live’ on Friday, Ending Blackout in Dozens of Cities

Sinclair Broadcast Group, which owns and operates some 40 ABC stations, said it’s ending its week-long blackout of “Jimmy Kimmel Live!,” bringing the late-night show back to its dozens of ABC affiliates starting Friday.

Disney has reportedly responded by threatening to pull SEC football broadcasts in those blackout markets, signaling a broader escalation in the tug-of-war over control of network content and political influence...

Do it, then folks will learn not to rely on ABC and find other ways to view it... Right now most any major college game is streamed by channels from other countries on Youtube... Sometime Youtube blocks it, you just switch to another streamer from some poophole backwoods Indonesian country doing the same thing.

Rarely do I miss any game I want to view, and the only one that loses is ABC ad revenue.

Nexstar joins Sinclair in bringing back 'Jimmy Kimmel Live!' after tense standoff with Disney
The liberal ABC host was sidelined over his comments about the Charlie Kirk assassination
By Joseph A. Wulfsohn Fox News
Published September 26, 2025 5:53pm EDT

Nexstar Media Group joined Sinclair Broadcast Group in airing "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" following a tense standoff with Disney beginning Friday night.

"We have had discussions with executives at The Walt Disney Company and appreciate their constructive approach to addressing our concerns," Nexstar said in a statement Friday. "As a local broadcaster, Nexstar remains committed to protecting the First Amendment while producing and airing local and national news that is fact-based and unbiased and, above all, broadcasting content that is in the best interest of the communities we serve."

That was some false gossip. There is no evidence that ABC threatened to withhold its sports rights midseason. It originated as speculation from Paul Farhi, an out-of-work lefty reporter who was speculating without knowledge of the contracts (which I highly doubt that the SEC would have permitted their lone network cut their product from the affiliates, because it would damage their reach). But it got circulated as fact without any proof that the SEC would even allow it.

The only thing ABC could do was choose to pull the network affiliation the next time the contract expires, but that could take years, by which time Kimmel probably would have reached the end of his contract anyway.

Regardless of all this recent hubbub, Jimmy Kimmel SUCKS! And his ratings show it.
He may be back on the air for now. But it is not economically sustainable.

Kimmel has become a Disney charity. Disney funds Kimmel out of pity, not out of profit. (because there are no profits)
But it cannot last for long.

A year from now Jimmy Kimmel will be long gone. He will become a trivia question on a game show.

You are almost certainly right. This (ironically) was a good short-term publicity stunt for them but probably not sustainable. At least Colbert has some degree of charisma that appeals to the lefties and has flashes of being funny once in a great while. Kimmel is just plain mean, and it shows. We'll see how the ratings are come November sweeps once all this passes. His contract's up in March, though I would have thought we'd have news on whether or not it'd be renewed by now (based on the past with David Letterman, Craig Ferguson and Colbert).

Of course, I've never thought Kimmel's show was much more than a "me too" effort from ABC, after NBC and CBS were having success with their own late-night shows at the time. Now that CBS is getting out of the game, there's very little reason for ABCto keep propping Kimmel up. They can always just move Nightline back to its original slot and be done with it.

And of course, Jimmy Fallon over on NBC continues to be the luckiest man on the face of the Earth. Who did this guy blackmail?

End result?  Non-ABC owned affiliates caved, and their dumbass got one day of high ratings.  No apologies, no remorse, no regrets about the most heinous Kirk comment.

Kimmel won this battle hands down.

Jimmy Kimmel sheds 64% of audience after short-lived ratings spike following suspension
ABC’s ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’ was briefly benched after liberal host sparked outrage
 By Brian Flood Fox News
Published September 29, 2025 2:00pm EDT

Jimmy Kimmel’s ratings spike was short-lived.

Disney briefly suspended ABC’s "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" after the host’s remarks about the alleged assassin of Charlie Kirk sparked widespread backlash. After an about-face from Disney, the liberal comedian returned last Tuesday, and Kimmel’s emotional return drew a massive audience, but viewers haven’t stuck around.

On Thursday, "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" averaged 2.3 million total viewers — a staggering 64% drop from the 6.5 million who tuned in for Tuesday’s much-hyped return.
