Nolte: Trump Plans Mass Firings of Bureaucrats If Dems Shut Down Government

John Nolte 25 Sep 2025

The White House has already instructed federal agencies to plan for mass firings if Democrats shut down the government.

So, let’s all do our part to encourage Democrats to shut down the government.

The shutdown deadline is September 30, and an Office of Management and Budget memo reads in part:

With respect to those Federal programs whose funding would lapse and which are otherwise unfunded, such programs are no longer statutorily required to be carried out. Therefore, consistent with applicable law, including the requirements of 5 C.F.R. part 351, agencies are directed to use this opportunity to consider Reduction in Force (RIF) notices for all employees in programs, projects, or activities (PPAs) that satisfy all three of the following conditions: (1) discretionary funding lapses on October 1, 2025; (2) another source of funding, such as H.R. 1 (Public Law 119-21) is not currently available; and (3) the PPA is not consistent with the President’s priorities.

In the past, unnecessary bureaucrats have been furloughed during government shutdowns and then brought back after a deal is reached—which made all Normal People wonder why we need unnecessary bureaucrats at all?

This is powerful leverage for Trump because Democrats love bureaucrats because bureaucrats 1) vote Democrat and 2) make up the Deep State that constantly foils the will of Normal People when a Republican is in office.

So why won’t Democrats vote to fund the government? After all, it’s a simple process. The Republicans offered an easy-peasy clean continuing resolution, which essentially says the government will carry on spending like it has for the next seven weeks. According to Republicans, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY), counter-offered with a demand for $1.4 trillion in new spending that, among other things, reinstates free health care for illegal aliens and funding for far-left NPR and PBS and also pays to mutilate little kids to appease the left’s demonic trans godz.

I hope that's on solid legal ground.

Even if it isn't on good legal grounds ... make the otherside prove that in court.

At the very least refuse to pay them, refuse to pay for their health insurance and 401-K, for the days they didn't work during the shutdown.

Not paying employees will also hurt state income tax revenue.  Mostly Blue states?

Trump has leverage, real or imaginary, and he might as well use it to call the Dems to heel.

Trump should absolutely use it to cut fat, fraud, corruption and shiftless bureaucrats.

Schumer, Democrats face heat for shifting stance on government shutdown threat
Senate Democrats previously voted to avoid shutdown over fears of mass federal employee firings
By Alex Miller Fox News
Published September 26, 2025 11:38am EDT

Senate Democrats earlier this year were unwilling to shut down the government over fears of mass firings and deep cuts to spending, but now with a similar threat on the horizon, they seem unwilling to keep the lights on.

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., and his caucus have further dug into their position in the week that Congress has been away from Washington, D.C., and they appear ready to not provide the needed votes to avert a partial government shutdown by Sept. 30.

Republicans are calling foul on their position and contend that their rhetoric is hypocritical to their stance from earlier this year, when Senate Democrats — including Schumer — voted to keep the government open.

Senate Majority Leader John Thune, R-S.D., contended that their position now is completely counter to the one they held in March when the government was again on the brink of closure, especially given their concerns that the Trump administration and Office of Management and Budget (OMB) would move ahead with mass firings.

"The argument they made was that you don't want to give Trump — basically by shutting the government down — carte blanche to do whatever he wants to do with these government agencies, and, you know, to let the OMB make decisions about who's essential and who isn't," Thune said on "The Hugh Hewitt Show."

"Because they do fundamentally believe they are the government party," he continued. "Which is why I think it's going to be hard, can be really hard for them to sustain this over a long period of time, but we'll see."

The OMB circulated a memo to federal agencies this week that directed mass firings of federal employees beyond the typical shutdown furloughs, but Schumer chalked it up to "an attempt at intimidation."

"Donald Trump has been firing federal workers since day one — not to govern, but to scare," he said. "This is nothing new and has nothing to do with funding the government. These unnecessary firings will either be overturned in court or the administration will end up hiring the workers back, just like they did as recently as today."

White House warns of mass firings if Democrats force gov’t shutdown

American Military News by Timothy Frudd 9/26/2025

A memorandum shared by the White House Office of Management and Budget shows that President Donald Trump’s administration is directing federal agencies to prepare for an “orderly shutdown” by developing plans to implement mass firings of government employees if Democrats in the U.S. Senate refuse to pass a continuing resolution and force a government shutdown.

“Over the past 10 fiscal years, Congress has consistently passed Continuing Resolutions (CRs) on or by September 30 on a bipartisan basis,” the Office of Management and Budget said in the memorandum, which was obtained by Politico. “Unfortunately, congressional Democrats are signaling that they intend to break this bipartisan trend and shut down the government in the coming days over a series of insane demands, including $1 trillion in new spending.”

The Office of Management and Budget explained that the U.S. House of Representatives recently passed a “clean” continuing resolution to fund the government through November 21; however, the Trump administration claimed that Senate Democrats are currently blocking the resolution “due to their partisan demands.”

Nice to finally have someone with the stones to play hardball with these guys. I wouldn't give them an inch - come up with a realistic budget or I'll shut it down and do it my way.
