Care To Guess How Many Of The Deadliest Cities In The U.S. Have A Republican Mayor?

“I want to present some facts to the president of the United States, and I imagine this is alarming to the president to learn these facts.” – California Gov. Gavin Newsom.

In one of his endless attempts to grab a headline, California Gov. Gavin Newsom last week taunted President Donald Trump, saying that if he’s serious about fighting crime, he should be sending the National Guard to red states such as Louisiana, which has a murder rate far higher than California.

Newsom’s attempt to troll the president failed on Sunday, when Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem took the attention-starved governor up on his offer.

“Absolutely,” she said on “Face the Nation,” when asked if the Trump administration would send National Guard troops into cities or states run by Republicans. “Every single city is evaluated for what we need to do there to make it safer.”

But even if Trump were to follow up on this, he’d likely still end up sending National Guard troops almost exclusively into Democratic strongholds.

Not for political reasons. But because the most crime-infested parts of the country are almost entirely run by Democrats.

Here are some facts about crime that might be alarming to the governor of California.

Even in Red states with Republican governors...the worst crime issues are in the Blue cities within.

143 homicides in Louisville last year...population is 640K...1.3 million in the Metro area.

When traveling north to visit friends and relatives there are 3 cities I stay far away from.  I find hotels Motels 40 to 50 miles outside.

St. Louis.  What a shithole.  I won't even stop for gas during daylight hours. It's not safe to fill up at a place just off the I-44 Interstate.  I will stay in St. Charles though.  Nice clean area.
Nashville.  Make a wrong turn and you are screwed.
Louisville.  The sound of gunfire is a turn off.

In fairness to Dallas (on the list posted by @mountaineer ) the current mayor was a Dem until a couple of years ago.

Of course Dallas is   pretty darn blue...not as much as Austin...but blue none the less.

President Trump on Tuesday said it’s only a matter of time before National Guard troops are deployed to Chicago to help tackle crime in the Windy City, highlighting shootings that killed 8 and wounded 50 over the Labor Day weekend.

State and city leaders have told Trump to keep out of Chicago, while DC Mayor Muriel Bowser has shown increasing openness to an ongoing federal law enforcement presence in the capital. And a federal judge ruled Tuesday that Trump’s deployment of National Guard troops in Los Angeles in June ran afoul of the law.


Trump’s threats and orders are testing the boundaries of federal power in America’s major cities, while spurring a debate over which cities and states are facing the biggest crime problems. Many local Democratic elected officials have said crime is decreasing, while Trump and other federal officials have accused them of falsifying crime data.

Being The Hill, the article is quick to point out six of the ten are in red states, while failing to mention the Party affiliation of the Mayors of these cities.
