Senate Republican: ‘We’ve gotten lucky’ with Mamdani
Story by Tara Suter • 1h

The Hill's Headlines - August 19, 2025

Sen. John Kennedy (R-La.) said Monday his party has “gotten lucky” with the Democrats’ nominee for New York City mayor, as Zohran Mamdani makes his case ahead of the November election.

“We’ve gotten lucky — bad for America, good for Republicans — with Mr. Mamdani in New York,” Kennedy told NewsNation’s Leland Vittert. “If I didn’t know better, I would think he was a Republican plant. If I didn’t know better, I’d think that Republicans had created Mr. Mamdani in a petri dish in a genomics lab.”

“He’s clearly from what I call the Gary Busey wing — the cray cray wing — of the Democratic Party. That’s bad for New York, but it’s certainly good for Republicans,” the Pelican State Republican added.

By means of shrewd lies, unremittingly repeated, it is possible to make people believe that heaven is hell - and hell heaven. The greater the lie, the more readily it will be believed.

The receptivity of the masses is very limited, their intelligence is small, but their power of forgetting is enormous. In consequence of these facts, all effective propaganda must be limited to a very few points and must harp on these in slogans until the last member of the public understands what you want him to understand by your slogan.

Andrew Cuomo (52%) leads socialist Zohran Mamdani (41%) by 11 points in the NYC mayoral race, according to a Tulchin poll.

Cuomo leads only if all other candidates ( Sliwa and Adams) drop out, not likely to happen.

The actual results of the Tulchin Research poll:
zombie-mammi -- 42%
cuomo -- 26%
Curtis Sliwa -- 17%
eric adams -- 9%
Jim Walden -- 3%

Looks like zombi-mammi is hitting a ceiling around 40+%.
Someone else would have to get 1 vote more than him to win (there is no run-off and ranked choice voting DOES NOT apply to the general election).

eric adams sinks down and down. The way he's going, the fringe candidate Walden could get more votes, heh.

cuomo probaby can't win -- adams' voter base (probably black) won't swing over the cuomo, nor will sliwa's voters.

Too bad cuomo won't quit.
I'm thinking his support is coming from "pragmatic thinking dems and independents" who don't like either adams or zombie-mammie.

If cuomo were to quit, those folks might actually consider Curtis as the alternative to mammi.
But I guess I'm just dreamin' ...
