Marion Man Sentenced to Prison for Violent Liquor Store Robbery Attempt
A Marion County man has been sentenced to more than seven years in state prison after pleading guilty to a brutal attempted robbery of a local liquor store.
Keyobie Dawadrian Bullard, 36, was convicted of Attempted Robbery with a Deadly Weapon and Aggravated Battery with a Deadly Weapon on Monday, August 18, 2025, in the courtroom of Judge Barbara Kissner-Kwatkosky. He was subsequently sentenced to seven years and six months in prison.
The conviction stems from an incident on May 6, 2022, at Beavers Discount Liquor Store on Jacksonville Road in Ocala. According to reports from the Marion County Sheriff's Office (MCSO), a witness alerted authorities after observing a man in a blue hoodie inside the store, who appeared to be striking the cashier with what they believed to be a firearm.
When deputies arrived, they found the victim, who detailed a violent and terrifying ordeal. The victim told law enforcement that a suspect, matching the witness's description, attempted to rob the store. When the victim was unable to open the cash register quickly, the suspect repeatedly struck them with a taped stick concealed in a black sock and Crown Royal bag. The assailant then reportedly grabbed a firearm from under the counter and continued to strike the victim's head with it before fleeing on foot.
