Trump urges Zelenskyy to cede Crimea, halts aspirations for NATO

President Donald Trump is urging Ukraine to cede Crimean to Russia and to drop its aspirations to join NATO.

In a Sunday post on Truth Social, Trump outlined how Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy could end the war with Russia.

“President Zelenskyy of Ukraine can end the war with Russia almost immediately, if he wants to, or he can continue to fight,” Tump wrote. "Remember how it started. No getting back Obama given Crimea (12 years ago, without a shot being fired!), and NO GOING INTO NATO BY UKRAINE. Some things never change!!!"

Russia has long been opposed to Ukraine becoming a member of NATO, the military alliance of countries formed in 1949 to counter the threat of expansion by the Soviet Union.

Will US troops deploy to Ukraine as peacekeepers? Here's what Trump says

President Donald Trump did not rule out the possibility of deploying U.S. troops to Ukraine as part of a NATO-like security guarantee to ensure Russia does not invade again once a peace deal is settled.

"We will give them very good protection, very good security. That's part of it," Trump said during a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

Asked specifically whether that meant American boots on the ground, Trump said: “I’ll let you know on that later today.”“We're meeting with seven great leaders of great countries also, and we'll be talking about that,” Trump said, referring to the European leaders who he met with after the Zelenskyy meeting.

“They'll all be involved, but there'll be a lot of help when it comes to security, there's going to be a lot of help, it's going to be good. They are first line of defense, because they're there, they're Europe, but we're going to help them out also, we'll be involved.”

Congress should pass a statement of support for Zelensky, override Rump's veto pen.

Warmongering idiots. Get out of the 50's already

And how do you suggest Ukraine protect itself from the next Russian invasion?

Prayers?

You sure like to criticize Western countries as "warmongers" when they're only trying to defend themselves, yet you say NOTHING critical about Putin, who started this war without any provocation

So if someone's house gets invaded, and the criminal tries to steal that person's property, you support the criminal, correct?

Trump presents Zelensky with Ukraine battlefield map during Oval Office meeting

President Donald Trump presented Zelensky with a map depicting the territory currently under control of Russia in Ukraine.

Since the start of the four-year war, Russian military forces have gained control of nearly 20% of the country.

The map presented in the Oval Office has the area controlled by Putin shaded in pink.

Putin has demanded control of the remaining territory of the Donbass in order to sign a peace agreement with Zelensky.

Russia currently holds a vast majority of the Donbass territory, as well as control over large areas in the Kherson and Zaporizhzhia regions.

Macron tells Trump that Europe should be represented in meeting with Putin and Zelensky

French president Emmanuel Macron told Trump that Europe needs to be involved in future peace talks between Putin and Zelensky.

Trump noted during the White House meeting with the European delegation on Monday that he plans on setting up a trilateral meeting between the Ukranian and Russian leader.

Macron noted that a representative of Europe needs to have a seat at the table with Putin to discuss 'security' for the continent.

'I think as a follow up, we would need probably a quadrilateral meeting. Because when we speak about security guarantees, we speak about the whole security of the European continent.'

Everybody knows how the war in Ukraine is going to end up.

YOU know it.

You may not be willing to admit that, however.
But you know it.

I sense Mr. Trump will be the realist here.

Just logically following from first part of my statement I guess. Maybe you're right. We'll start with:

"Congress should pass a statement of support for Zelensky"

I frankly could care less what Z wears. I have read he wears the black t-shirt in respect for his troops.

So he wore a suit. It was also an issue last time that he didn't thank the US enough. He thanked DJT over and over. The money issue came up and DJT reiterated that we are no longer funding Ukraine with cash. So what the heck is the problem now?

It annoys the crap out of me that we are part of an agreement for Ukraine to give part of their country to an invader to obtain peace. It rubs me the wrong way. I'm pretty sure there is historical reference for this type of agreement./s We could economically coerce Russia to get back home and myob. All we are doing is validating this behavior. I sure hope they don't want Alaska back.

As far as I'm concerned, this says...don't give up your nukes for any reason. It's a lie and you will be over run.

Trump urges Zelenskyy to cede Crimea, halts aspirations for NATO

President Donald Trump is urging Ukraine to cede Crimean to Russia .  .  .

.  .  .  along with somewhere between 4 and 13 trillion cubic meters of natural gas reserves.  Idiots.  Quite the reward for the war criminal Putin.

Russia rejects NATO-style security guarantee for Ukraine

The Russian Foreign Ministry roundly rejected the idea of NATO forces serving as peacekeepers in Ukraine, a provision sought by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and his European allies in U.S.-brokered peace talks.

"We confirm the position that has been voiced more than once about our categorical rejection of any scenarios involving the appearance of Ukraine military contingent with the participation of NATO countries (which is fraught with an uncontrolled escalation of the conflict with unpredictable consequences)," a foreign ministry statement reported by Russian state media outlet Ria read.

President Donald Trump already suggested a European-led peacekeeping force to ensure Russia does not invade Ukraine again would be a part of peace talks. Asked if U.S. would contribute forces, Trump said: “[Europe is] first line of defense, because they're there, they're Europe, but we're going to help them out also, we'll be involved.”

Duh.  Is anyone listening to what Putin is saying?  Anyone at all?

Well of course, Putin wants Ukraine naked and defenseless so he can attack & invade the rest of it again in a few years

BTW, didn't Witkoff say Russia had agreed to this??

  • Ah, the air is so much fresher here...
Try as he did, yesterday just wasn't a good day for Macron ....

Say one thing, he looks almost as old now as his mother wife these days.
The Republic is lost.
