For years, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer has painted himself as a man “in touch” with everyday Americans — the guy who supposedly listens to the struggles of regular families before heading to the Senate floor to fight for them. But a resurfaced clip from HBO’s Last Week Tonight with John Oliver just blew that image to pieces.




Certainly it exposes their stupidity. Chuckster puts cheese on uncooked burgers and has been defining his policy around a make-believe family. What an abject loser.

This is a widely recognized and used sales technique. "Hello, Mr. and Mrs. Homeowner, I am Ms. SalesPerson with Fake Realty Company. I have a client with cash in hand who loves your neighborhood and is looking to buy a house like yours. Would you have any interest in selling?"

Anybody who actually believed in the "Bailey Family" is incredibly naive.

C’mon man! Lighten up, you have to feel a little sorry for Schumer believing George Bailey and his family were real, he thought It’s a Wonderful Life was a documentary.

Thanks yes I fixed it, lack of sleep, stress and pain meds are not conducive to coherent thoughts.

Mike Royko used to talk about an imaginary foil named "Slats Grobnick."  Same thing, except Royko was obvious about the device.

One of the oldest tricks in the book, and exactly the kind of old school rhetoric a guy like Schumer would use.

Though the fact that Oliver thought this was some huge gotcha is equally as laughable. But hey, the guy's on two sinking ships (a late-night talk show host on a cable network) so I don't exactly envy such desperation.

Appreciate the thoughts, but it is chronic and right now for whatever reason it’s gone into hyperdrive. Everyone has problems, we just have to deal with them as best we can🤷🏼‍♂️
