Why is this woman still in charge of making vehicles for GM?

She is still CEO?  She was a DEI hire from way back.

Without electricity generated from coal or gas or nuclear power - only from wind and sun - it might be difficult to charge one of those EVs long enough to drive around the black.

“In the future” leaves an awful lot of room…..the kind of safe prediction an idiot would make, not what I expect from the CEO of a major automaker……..oh wait, she’s both, isn't she?

That's the truth. Hopefully she's wrong in her prediction.

If it's true, I don't mind it... Very few of my power tools have cords anymore, either electric or pneumatic... Ryobi battery power owns nearly all of it.

And I'm alright with that, because it's better... NOTE: Not that someone TOLD me it's better... It's actually better.

Let the market decide, and I will not whine at all. Shove it down my throat when it ain't better, well that's a different thing.

I believe that nearly all cars will be EV as well... When battery technology makes them superior to ICE - but that day is not today.

Simply stated, she is wrong.  The USA is backing up to an economic collapse that will be more detrimental than what happened to the USSR in 1991.  It has been building for years.  Washington is operating with blinders to this fact, and is the worst enemy to this nation when it comes to our future.

A do nothing Congress, who only does one thing well, spend money like a drunken sailor on steroids, will face a collapse of their own making.  What can we expect?  Well, starvation will begin within weeks.  Then disease will become more apparent, and crime will increase dramatically with roving bands of thugs taking what they want with little to no policing.  The collapse will be very destructive.

The future will be powered by water.  She is so small minded with her vision, she should be removed, pronto before she takes GM down again.  Years ago, I saw a scientist in Ohio burning water.  I could not believe what I was seeing, but something was done to the water that enabled it to burn at a rather high temperature.  It was an eye opener.  I haven't heard anything further about it, but I thought in ten years it would begin being produced by someone.

Now, it is possible the technology was bought and buried.  I know that happens often enough.

Elon Musk is right about the one big bill, it is stuffed with huge wasteful spending.  I am sure he is disgusted with Trump.  Trump is a spender, and does not have one conservative bone in his body.  I imagine Musk is sitting there like my university roommate, who after living with Clinton at the helm, wanted to move to another country.  I would not be surprised if he is considering that right about now.  Where can I go where they are still sane?

Bottomline, the demand for electric is already through the roof, making all vehicles powered by electric will never happen because we just do not have the ability to generate the electric.  And while battery technology continues to advance, the generation of electric power is not growing to support a 100% EV world.  Never going to happen.  She is an idiot!

Don't forget dear friends, that ever since 'too big to fail', GM speaks the feral government's dreams.

Man, imagine a 2 stroke power drill for regular household use... or using pneumatic tools day to day...

I don't have to imagine it. I did it. No lie. My last house, when I was remodeling it... I seriously considered plumbing it for pneumatics.  happy77

Yeah... I'm a fan. Even yet, btw. When the 1/2" batt powered impact driver will not budge it, out comes the 1/2" pneumatic. And I don't care that the 1/2" batt driver is rated as way more powerful - The pneumatic impact driver will get it done. That's the money. And that is repeated in 3/8 pneumatic and the 1/4" hex drive pneumatic screwdriver that still runs my bench. And pneumatic still has not been replaced at all in 3/4" and 1" drive stuff. Maybe never will be. Pneumatic power is still better, more powerful, IMHO.

But then you have to fire up the compressor and drag out the hose... It's a whole thing. And for 99% of the time the batt power will do. Just click in a battery and you are on your way. That convenience is what dominates.

I believe there was a time when pneumatic beat electric, but Milwaukee and IR have since some out with some higher torque battery powered wrenches which, on paper at least, beat pneumatic. Things for taking off lug nuts on semis and stuff like that.

Oh, I know... And I even said it. I think my 1/2" ryobi impact driver is rated at 650 ft lbs. My old Snap On pneumatic wrench (rebranded Chicago Pneumatic 735B) is rated at 450lbs... But the money is on the pneumatic. Without question.

Maybe it is because it has bigger hammers, which functionally set up a different resonance and timing... But while the Ryobi might well snap it off, I can rattle the nut off better with the pneumatic. It's better at it.

I did plumb compressed air to my office in my previous house... I also had self-retracting air hose reels mounted to the ceiling in the garage at that house. The compressor itself was in another building to minimize the noise in the main house. Yesteryear...

I have to believe a gas powered chainsaw is still the only way to go for cutting up a large tree, especially a hardwood one.

The compressed air at my testbench (in my house) for blowing out electronics is now provided by my contractor-style pancake compressor (filtered of course)... Way mobedda than canned air, but I hate it when the compressor kicks on... which is all the time.

When I was remodeling my last house, I dang near ran a pipe from the shop to provide air - The shop compressor was 3phase, and a big ol betty (could run DAs and air boards all day long). My computer lab would not have even been noticed. And it would have brought a blessed air powered screwdriver while I was at it.

I nixed the deal because I don't own a backhoe. Let that be a lesson for you son... Every man should own a backhoe.

Aand now... here I am. Back to canned air (cuz I hate that compressor), and that same old Black & Decker crappy-ass electric screw driver running that test bench. Thousands of dollars worth of tools out in the shed, and here I sit.  **nononono*

Right. Or at least, for cutting many. Like firewood. But most of the buggys around here have electric chainsaws onboard for the light work of clearing trails and such.

And Stihl Does have an electric comparable to a 5.0cc... And it is a flat demon with a 20" bar. Now, I like a 22" bar for firewood... but that's getting close. But you better bring some batteries. It don't last too long if you are working it.

Sure, unless a more powerful and reliable electric one is built, which is conceivable.

My wife pulled out the start cord from the snowblower (she likes doing the driveway! HAHA!). BUt yeah, considering the Ego electric 2 stage snowblower as I've heard mostly good things about it. Biggest plus is no "It won't start" surprises when looking at a driveway covered with snow at 6AM. If it eats batteries, who cares? Just throw more of them at it.

Or I could repair it. Not sure which route to take. Will probably try the repair as coin is a little short ATM.

A start cord is an easy fix. You'd be amazed how many small engine machines I have hauled away for free and got running again with a start cord repair and a  spark plug.

That being said, I would go for an electric start, track driven, gas blower. You can fix yours, flip it, and add a little dough to find a decent used one pretty cheap this time of year.
