Dodgy Biden Program That Used Money for Needy Americans to Pay for College for Illegals Finally Scrapped

The Department of Education has revoked programs in California and Oregon that diverted student aid targeted for low-income students, first-generation college students, and individuals with disabilities to illegal immigrants. The money came from the TRIO Program (this is not an acronym; it refers to the three — trio, get it? — original aid programs: Upward Bound, Talent Search, and Student Support Services) and was made possible by a waiver of the law's requirement that only citizens and resident aliens were eligible.
California’s waiver began in November 2022 and was set to expire in September 2026. The program in Oregon began in October 2023 and was set to expire in September 2027. Biden was in the process of expanding eligibility via the rulemaking process when time ran out on him.
The diversion of funds from needy and vulnerable Americans to illegals was carried out under the auspices of the Performance Partnership Pilots for Disconnected Youth (P3) which is supposed to provide aid to people "between the ages of 14-24 who are low-income and are homeless; in foster care; involved in the juvenile justice system; unemployed; or not enrolled in or are at risk of dropping out of an educational institution."
