Bill Maher Says Dems ‘Funneling Money’ to Environmentalists After Biden Loss Has Him ‘Skeptical’ of Saving Education Dept.
Bill Maher questioned whether the US Department of Education was worth saving from President Donald Trump and DOGE after accusing the Biden administration of “funneling money” to environmental causes on its way out the door.
Maher said $20 billion was disbursed to questionable environmentalists who he did not believe would use the money for the betterment of green causes. The Real Time host said the mad dash to hand out cash made him question if the Education Department deserved its funding.
“What does the panel think of the Trump administration gutting and potentially eliminating the Department of Education?” Maher asked Democratic Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro, Newsweek editor Batya Ungar-Sargon, and MSNBC contributor Sam Stein.
“I’m still thinking about it, honestly,” Maher added.
Shapiro said the Education Department had a “compact” with American children it needed to fulfill.
