Judge Resigns Amid FBI Raid
 
Judge Joseph Molina Flynn of the Rhode Island municipal court has resigned following an FBI raid on his law office. The raid is part of a broader federal investigation into immigration-related activities, coinciding with new executive orders aimed at increasing deportations. Molina Flynn, known for being the first openly gay and formerly undocumented judge in Rhode Island, has been a vocal advocate for immigrant rights.
 
On January 24, 2025, federal agents raided Molina Flynn’s law office in downtown Providence. Multiple agents entered the building, carrying out boxes of documents, indicating a serious investigation into his legal practices.

Central Falls Mayor Maria Rivera announced Molina Flynn’s resignation following the FBI’s actions. She expressed support for the judge while emphasizing the importance of maintaining the integrity of the judicial system.

Rivera simply stated, “We must uphold the integrity of our judicial system.”
