As President Donald Trump's second administration continued its swift recasting of the federal government and American foreign policy, the president issued a stunning proposal, saying the U.S. would "take over" the Gaza Strip, "level the site" and rebuild it.

Trump on Thursday gave remarks at the annual National Prayer Breakfast, after which he was meeting with House Republicans about his budget and tax cuts agenda and later was scheduled to sign executive orders.
