Tragedy as Ohio woman freezes to death while taking her dog outside

A woman in Ohio tragically died of hypothermia after taking her dog outside, as temperatures reached dangerous levels amid winter storms across the US.

Eugenia Michele Wadman, 43, was found dead at 11am on Sunday 19 after Huron County Sheriff's responded to a 911 call reporting an unresponsive person.

Wadman was found at 1832 Hanville Corners Road in Willard after she had taken her dog outside during the night 'wearing only light pajamas.'

The sheriff's office said Wadman 'appeared to have fallen and sustained injuries consistent with struggling and crawling on the snow- and ice-covered yard,' Fox 8 reported.

'Hypothermia likely set in quickly due to the mid to low 20-degree temperatures,' the sheriff's office said in a press release.

Her death is still under investigation by the Huron County Sheriff's Office and the Lucas County Medical Examiner. Wadman's dog's condition remains unclear. 

Just earlier this week, millions of Americans across the country began bracing for dangerously low temperatures and more snowfall forecasted.

Winter storm warnings issued by the NWS were in effect for parts of the Mid-Atlantic through Monday morning.
