DOJ prioritizing arrests of select Jan. 6 rioters ahead of likely Trump shut down
November 10, 2024 | Kevin Haggerty

The Justice Department’s renewed focus to beat the clock on Jan. 6 prosecutions added concerns of waste to the cries of politicization.

An example of government efficiency at its finest, nearly four years after the U.S. Capitol was breached, the DOJ appeared to suggest a lack of priority in their arrests. According to a report from NBC News, now, ahead of the inauguration of President-elect Donald Trump, they intend to focus on the “most egregious” Jan. 6 offenders.

The victory for the once and future president came with the promise of ending political persecutions by the federal government and the intent to “make pardon decisions on a case-by-case basis” for defendants and the convicted alike.

Acknowledging a tight deadline before Jan. 20, 2025, NBC News detailed that federal prosecutors in the DOJ’s Capitol Siege Section were instructed to oppose delay requests from defendants and, with regard to new arrests, “focus on the most egregious conduct and cases until the end of the administration.”

“We didn’t spend the last four years tracking these criminals down just to have dozens of them avoid prosecution because half of the country are f—–g morons,” said one individual described as an “online sleuth” who’d aided the FBI in tracking down people present at the Capitol in 2021. “Our work continues, as should the DOJ’s.”

“Just over 1 per day,” said another as it was noted there were 75 people wanted for felonies that had yet to be arrested while the Justice Department had rounded up individuals whose greatest offense was entering the building.”Place your bets!”

I understand that Trump has a lot on his plate right now.  He should at the very least make a statement on the J6 prisoners as President Elect.
This is a great travesty upon our body politic.     9999hair out0000

Trump needs a blanket pardon of everyone arrested since election day and probably most prior. A few really did need hard time.

  • I was a "conspiracy theorist". Now I'm just right.
So are they finally going to arrest Ray Epps?

It likely has, unnoticed, or buried behind the veil of "conspiracy theory".

$hit, Trump wouldn't even disclose the JFK files when he was lawfully bound by Congress to do so.

Arrests?  WTF ... it's been over three years!  Merrick Garland moves with the speed and urgency of a morbidly obese slug.  Is he still waiting to arrest John Wilkes Booth?

  • Ah, the air is so much fresher here...
With what laws? I think the SCOTUS shut down the obstruction of official proceedings ruse.

Rhetoric like this just makes everyone suspicious of a wide and deep  government existence  in full  panic and self-protection mode.

It's like the Huns are at the gates, and the last column of Centurions are in defense mode for one last stand.  Hang on, we are going to see political action in DC unseen in our history.

  • Dems-greatest existential threat to USA republic!
If the DOJ is pursuing the Jan 6th folks, all Trump needs to do is to get a message to them that anyone working on that case still, will be terminated immediately upon his taking office.

AND I STRONGLY SUGGEST THAT THE 450 +/- AGENCIES, BUREAUS, DEPARTMENTS, ETC BE CONSOLIDATED BY 50%, WITH EVERYONE IN THE DEPARTING GROUP ABOVE 1ST LINE SUPERVISION RECEIVING A PINK SLIP.  THIS CAN BE DONE WEEK ONE!!!

1ST ON THE LIST IS THE FBI, WHICH SHOULD BE FOLDED INTO HOMELAND
2ND ON THE LIST IS THE SECRET SERVICE, WHICH SHOULD BE MOVED OUT OF HOMELAND AND REPORT TO THE DNI
3RD - DEPT OF EDUCATION, PHASING IT OUT OVER THE NEXT 4 YEARS, REDUCING THE BUDGET 25% EACH YEAR.

SELL 10% OF FEDERAL LANDS, USE MONEY TO PAY OFF NATIONAL DEBT

And I could come up with billions more in cuts without even trying.

The ONLY way to shut this thing completely down -- and END the notion of mass political persecutions in America -- is to PARDON THEM ALL.

Every one.
Even those few who actually may have been "guilty".

The pardon should go FURTHER.
It should grant an amnesty to ALL who participated in the January 6 event, not just those who were later arrested. The same way that Jimmy Carter granted blanket amnesty to the draft dodgers. So they can't be arrested at some future date.

If Mr. Carter could do that, Mr. Trump can do this.

(I've been posting the above for a couple of years here now, my tune hasn't changed)

Nope, the ones who assaulted cops deserve jail time. Period. I won't waiver on that point.

Well, Trump will free up all those cells when he gets in, as he knows he will need the room to accommodate those who are real criminals in our bureaucracy he will round up.

There will be a reckoning, likely not as much to satisfy me and others, but it will come.
