Ratings-challenged CNN is reportedly set for a major bloodbath — with boss Mark Thompson expected to lay off high-priced on-air talent as part of wide-ranging layoffs.

The cable network — which lagged behind rivals MSNBC and Fox News during last week’s Election Night coverage — will implement “layoffs that will impact hundreds of employees across the organization,” according to Puck News.

Thompson, who took over last year after the ouster of Chris Licht, will cull personnel from CNN’s television production teams whose “talents won’t necessarily be needed in the new digital-first landscape,” the outlet added.

The numbers for the Communist News Network were probably bloated by other MSM networks and pollsters so it didn't look like the debacle it was.

Good tech people are good tech people and they aren't responsible for the content the newsreaders put out. It's still a good notch in their resume. If they know their stuff, they may well find jobs helping generate digital content or doing commercials or working at local stations. Not so prestigious, nor as lucrative, and maybe out in the 'gulags of flyover country' instead of NYC or Atlanta, but an opportunity for personal growth.

I have a hard time being overly sympathetic, because in an industry necessary to the national and economic security of these United States, I went through 8 layoffs in 45 years. I have been cut from the top of the stack (too expensive), and the bottom (other guys have seniority), and the middle (we're going to keep them because they have worked with this client, and yours shifted their CAPEX and is stacking their rigs).

Sometimes it's just random, but the experience keeps anyone who goes through it from ever assuming there is a next paycheck.

Incan have sympathy for them and you, I was put out of work thanks to the awesome Bama/Biden economy, it destroyed our companies niche laboratory business. For two years I applied at cities and school districts as well as other businesses and always tested and interviewed at the top, but was never hired and it was all about my age, I was just too damn expensive to hire and I’m not talking hourly wage. So yeah I hear ya on the age issue.

I am unable to express how much I hold that woman in contempt. She is all 5 of "The View" rolled into one person.

I've lived through 5 lay-offs and a move or move-on choice. My sympathy for laid off people is close to reflexive, but CNN "journalists" are partisans pretending to be objective who tell Americans what Americans "should" think. Those "journalists" get zero sympathy from me.

Coding requires logic ... that rules out most of CNN's on-air talent.

Those guys would write code with too many unchecked buffers and divide-by-zero errors.
