I agree with your comment in another thread that he'd make a great U.S. AG.  Texas needs him too though.

I've been following this story pretty closely. First, let me say, that have I no problem with the death penalty. Some people just need to die. But there seems to be some discrepancies in his trial and how the appeal process was handled. He seems to have gotten some pretty hefty support of pro-death penalty people. Court appointed attys don't always do the best job. And from what I have read, aside from the presentation of the case he was judged on his lack of emotion. Autism aside (which I don't have) a person shouldn't be judged on that. I don't outwardly show emotion either.

I am both an Abbott and Paxton supporter. However, their objections seem to be based on legislative/judicial over reach. I agree, these things are important and do constitute a possible constitutional crisis. But a man's life/liberty is at stake. He should have at least a retrial based on current medical knowledge. Isn't that what the "junk science law" is for? It seems to me that their objections should be balanced in some way with the possibility of innocence.

I'm just tickled to death that I never had to sit on a trial such as this. All the necessary information doesn't always come to the jury.

Both the Texas and Federal Constitutions guarantee us a Republican form of government. Three separate and equal branches but a single committee in one house of the bicameral Texas legislature has gone completely rouge by interfering in the affairs of the courts. @berdie  I cannot fathom anything more dangerous to our liberty than that.

I agree, and understand what you are saying @Bigun .

But it seems that the "junk science law" comes into play. I don't know if the man is guilty as sin or as innocent as the fresh fallen snow. There seems to be doubt even from one of the jurors.

If he is executed under these circumstances it will most definitely cause later problems with the death penalty.

Like I said, I'm darn sure glad that I didn't sit on that jury or any like it.

I tried to read it, but either due to user error (what? Me? lol) I couldn't access it. I have read transcripts.

The opposing side that is fighting for Roberson has been releasing statements as well. It still, appears to me that the crux of the case relies on the evidence, with the knowledge available at the time, and the presentation of same. It seems to becoming a tug of war.  As I have said...the legal Constitutional aspects are important. I agree with you on that. But so is a man's life.

That being said, I would absolutely have some questions that I can't seem to find answered. Where is/was the mother? He had the child for 2 months, how old was the "evidence of previous child abuse"? Was it caused by efforts to revive her at a previous hospital visit, or prior? Why was an individual that had been in prison including charges of meth abuse just shortly prior to getting  custody allowed to do so? I know these questions won't be answered.


Maybe he's innocent. Maybe not. But this sure is turning into a mess. And I'll stand by statement. With the high profile of this case, his execution, under that shadow will not bid well.
