GOP internal polling shows offensive targets just out of reach

Republican internal polling showed most of the party’s candidates trailing their Democratic opponents in battleground states.

October polling from the Senate Leadership Fund Super PAC, obtained by Politico, found that all but one Republican candidate in battleground states was polling behind Trump, partially due to Democrats’ large fundraising advantage.

“We still have a lot of work to do to maximize our gains in this critical Senate election,” SLF President Steven Law said in the memo. “We need to add media markets and expand into the final week in all our target states. We also have to guard our flanks.”

Seat flips that could have happened in Maryland and Michigan were found to be slipping away, while Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH) retained a significant lead in his race.

Former Gov. Larry Hogan (R-MD) led Democrat Angela Alsobrooks by eight points in early September before suddenly plummeting to seven points behind in mid-September. October cemented this gap.

Michigan brought even worse news. Republican Mike Rogers led by one point in August, then trailed Rep. Elissa Slotkin (D-MI) by two points throughout September. In the October poll, Slotkin skyrocketed to eight points ahead.

In Nevada, Republican Sam Brown is seven points behind Sen. Jacky Rosen (D-NV). In Arizona, Republican Kari Lake is five points behind Rep. Ruben Gallego (D-AZ).

Texas and Nebraska were also found to be vulnerable.

Longtime Sen. Ted Cruz’s (R-TX) race is too close for comfort, with Democrat Colin Allred trailing him by a single point. Allred gained three points since a mid-September poll, while Cruz gained a single point.

However, not all news was bad. Races in Wisconsin and Pennsylvania improved, and Republicans are significantly ahead in Democratic-held seats in Montana and West Virginia.

In Pennsylvania, Republican David McCormick has steadily improved his position since August, boosting his standing to now just two points behind Sen. Bob Casey (D-PA).

In Wisconsin, Republican Eric Hovde jumped to just one point behind Sen. Tammy Baldwin (D-WI).

So damn tough to dislodge a dim incumbant.  My guess..... 51-49 GOP based on flipping MT and WV.  I give any more than that, no more than a 20% chance of happening.
I display the Confederate Battle Flag in honor of my great great great grandfathers who spilled blood at Wilson's Creek and Shiloh.  5 others served in the WBTS with honor too.

Of all of that, I am most surprised by Hogan dropping so dramatically in Maryland.
