Why Are Bands Mysteriously Disappearing - Rick Beato
« on: September 13, 2024, 07:19:54 pm »
I just finished watching something political on YouTube, and their screen that shows 8 or 10 other clips on their service popped up on the screen after what I was watching ended.

One was Rick Beato's titled Why Are Bands Mysteriously Disappearing.  My first thought, which I have thought often, is that music has completely declined since 1995.  I honestly could not tell you the title of one song from Taylor Swift, Beyonce, or any of the other billionaires that have emerged from music in the last 25 years.  NOT ONE!

At the end of his presentation, he invites what you might think has caused the decline of bands.  Personally, I think it has a lot to do with the total decline of western civilization.  We have nothing to sing about...LITERALLY!!!  We murder our most vulnerable, the unborn, with relish, and proclaim it is a woman's right; we have removed God from our lives as a society, restricting any mention to God himself, the Ten Commandments, etc; and we have emasculated men intentionally to remove any male influence in our society.  That is the UGLY TRUTH  of it.

We allow the murder of 100,000++++ of our people by Mexico and China every year with fentanyl, and we do nothing.  Ten years of Vietnam, and we only lost 59,000.  And I thought Vietnam was a disgrace at the time, a failure of USA leadership.  If all the above does not represent the death of western civilization, what does it represent?

Now, we have the Democrats wiping out our republic, doing it overtly, and we do nothing.  With all the above, we are witnessing the end of western civilization, and our music reflects that outcome.

This come VERY close to a philosophical study I have embarked upon... The absence or at least the co-opting of the storyteller...

It used to be that young people would sit around the fire and listen to the old ones tell their stories. There is a continuity in that.. A moral centering. This is how we do, and this is why...

I don't think that's gone - Like Conservatism, it can neither be misplaced or defeated... It simply is.

But the distractions of the last years - Perhaps two decades in earnest - That distraction has brought us away from the storyteller. We are listening to Disney instead. Disney has been our storyteller as long as there has been a TV screen. That may have been alright back in the day, when Disney told our stories well. but look at what it is now.

Now the thing with music is almost operating in reverse, and that may in fact be healthy.
I listen to a whole lot of reactions on Youtube. It started out with black folks listening to Country music, as I have mentioned before - Which is a thought exercise of its own - But it has grown from there.

These rapper kids will listen to something epic from the 60's or 70's and say 'Man! you guys had such great music!' And the genre really doesn't matter.

But like I said, I think the turn in music is healthy. This generation rejects what is being put out by the chunked and formed industry. It is phony to them. They prefer something more of  busker. They want something real, not manufactured. And when they find it, they are enrapt. It rings a bell..

Perhaps the same can come for the storyteller, which is not far from the musician.

Interesting, especially while I listen to thousands of 80s songs that were probable 85% (or more) bands.
Exodus 18:21 Furthermore, you shall select out of all the people able men who fear God, men of truth, those who hate dishonest gain; and you shall place these over them as leaders over ....
