Most of us take many daily devices for granted. The appliances and tools we take for granted were once life-changing items hundreds of years ago.

That being said, many of these tools and products were invented by our military program. These items were intended to keep our soldiers safe, but eventually led to making our day-to-day life easier. The next time you are using one of the inventions, thank our defense program for making it possible.

The p-38 (can opener, not the plane). I have carried these on my key chains for decades and found them to work great. So many cans are pull tabs, now, but one of these will always get you in.

Speaking of such, I was doing my laundry many, many years ago at Cubi Point NAS in the Philippines when a young strutting Marine came in to do his.  He searched for the right "washer" and threw his whole seabag in. threw in plenty of detergent, and started his machine.  No water came to his rescue which wasn't totally unusual.  He stood and watched helplessly until someone suggested he would have better luck using a washer rather than a dryer. Then the detergent worked just as it should have.
