We Need To Get Women Out Of Men’s Spaces

There’s a lot to say about the disturbing footage of a violent mob beating a man and woman in downtown Cincinnati, but one thing that shouldn’t go unsaid is that the outrageous and offensive response from Cincinnati Police Chief Teresa Theetge is yet another reminder that we should get women out of men’s spaces — and out of men’s professions.

Policing is a man’s profession. So is soldiering, and commercial fishing, and underwater welding, and so on. That’s not to say women shouldn’t be able to serve in clerical roles in a police force or in the military, but they have no business leading police departments or being deployed into combat areas.

This is, or should be, a commonplace observation. But ever since the sexual revolution of the 1960s and the rise of feminism, we’re all supposed to pretend that women can do any job that men can do. What nonsense.

Take for example the spectacle of Theetge, an older, overweight woman who is somehow the chief law enforcement officer of a major American city. In a press conference this week about the violence in downtown Cincinnati, Theetge scolded the news media and the public for sharing and commenting on video footage of the incident posted on social media. The footage, she said, didn’t “depict the entire incident,” and showed only “one version of what occurred.”

Let me put it this way. Long ago and far away, when I was a fireman, there were a group of women in the county who claimed they wanted to be firefighters, too. Not just some random group, these ladies had been running rescue squad calls (Ambulance/EMT) already, for the most part, and a couple were wives of firefighters. Keep in mind that virtually all of Maryland's Fire/Rescue personnel in the 1970s were volunteer, myself included. We got training through the University of Maryland's Fire Extension Service, a program that has grown considerably since, offering some of the premier Firefighting training regimens in the Nation.
That said, about thirty women decided to 'try out'. After a day of handling hose lines, lugging gear, and doing overhaul (we had buildings slated for demolition that were used for fire training as well as the training facilities at College Park and elsewhere). One of the ladies had not only cut the mustard, but went on to become a firefighter. The rest decided EMS was more their purview.

It isn't that some women can't do the job, it is that it isn't for everyone. Having the opportunity to prove yourself is only the doorway. You should still have to prove yourself. There are physical requirements, things you have to be able to do to perform the day to day tasks the job entails. Some can, most cannot--and that goes for guys, too.

Being a First Responder is the most gratifying job I ever had. It paid nothing in financial terms, but we made a difference in a lot of lives while I was there, and my brother (and sister) firefighters and EMS continue to do so every day. But it is demanding, physically and emotionally, requires a clear head in a crisis, and you will see things you can't unsee.
It isn't a job you can adequately fill with some set of DEI checkboxes.

It isn't a question of whether some women can or not, but obviously, just being a woman is not a qualification for the job. Some women can do the job and are qualified to execute the duties of the office. Many are not. Same thing with men.

That goes from the street to commissioner.

It isn't for just anyone, and the sooner people realize it takes a special person to endure the rigors of the job (and put up with shit from above and below) and keep doing it well, the sooner people will appreciate good police, and other first responders as well.

I agree, I don't see women being much help with any criminal of size on the street... We see it over and over in videos, they get out of the way (98% of the time) and let the men do the dirty work. It puts men at danger, and the women officers too.

Who would you want to have your "Six".... a DEI hire woman or a physical man that can help carry you out of danger if the time came you needed it?

But then, I have known farm/ranch girls, six feet tall, 180 lbs, who can hold their own in a fight with most men.
It ll depends on the individual, which is why 'one size fits all' DEI policies just do not work.

I really do not think your mindset touches the bottomline.  It is not about feminism, or whether women can do men's work.  Men in our society have been castrated.   PERIOD!!!  It is about male aggression...oh, bad thing, etc.  Men are not permitted to be men.  Now, ask yourself why?  Really, think about it!!!

With the golbalism effort, the USA had to be weakened to fit into the slave future of the globe.  So, men were castrated.

BUT THE UGLY TRUTH IS THAT WE HAVE ALL BEEN RENDERED EXPENDABLE.  EVERY LAST ONE OF US.  WE PRACTICE A BARBARIC ATTACK UPON OUR MOST VULNERABLE, KILLING OUR UNBORN, MASS GENOCIDE, ALL IN THE NAME OF WOMEN'S RIGHTS.  Huh!!!!!  Kill the young, kill the old, castrate men, and who will fight the fight against those imposing this on our society?  Who?  We are becoming no different than Russia.  I have been there a number of times, and each time I went, I was startled by the parallels of the USA transitioning to a subservient society exactly like Russia.

Now, we are looking at allowing people to die if they so chose, just like Edgar G. Robinson in Soylent Green.  When I saw the movie in the early 80s, I said, never will this happen.  Seeing it recently, it is f***ing happening.  Right now in the USA!!!

It is not a mystery.  Our republic is gone.  We no longer have fair elections.  As Trump put it, 'make it too big for them to fix'.  And that is what happened, unless of course, Trump is really part of the swamp.

I just know that the USA is being transitioned into something very undesirable.  Criminals in Washington get away with sedition, and no one gets indicted.  Want to bet Obama and his gang of thugs never see one day in jail?

And we literally have Trump kissing the posterior of the one man coming closest to Adolph Hitler since 1945.  Geez, and we all live in our little bubble, too old perhaps to do anything, and the young too stupid, they don't have the slightest clue because we have destroyed education in the USA.  Ugggh!  No wonder the old people begin to look forward to dying, to leave this mess of humanity.  Just sad.
