The first night of the Democratic National Convention ran significantly behind, with President Joe Biden‘s address to delegates ending after midnight Eastern time.

Biden’s speech had been billed as the keynote speech for Monday, but instead of beginning in the 10 p.m. Eastern hour, he took the stage at 11:25 p.m. Eastern and finished his speech at 12:18 a.m. Convention officials said the delays had to do with the applause several of the speakers received.

“Because of the raucous applause interrupting speaker after speaker, we ultimately skipped elements of our program to ensure we could get to President Biden as quickly as possible so that he could speak directly to the American people,” a convention official said.



One of the acts cut to get to Biden’s speech was a performance by James Taylor, according to the Hollywood Reporter. Taylor was seen on Monday rehearsing for a performance that was reportedly set to go between first lady Jill Biden’s speech and Ashley Biden’s introduction of her father.

The schedule began to run behind early in the night, with Minnesota Lt. Gov. Peggy Flanagan taking the stage at 8:23 p.m. Eastern rather than during the 7 p.m. Eastern hour when she was scheduled. The convention got closer to the schedule when Golden State Warriors coach Steve Kerr took the stage at 9:18 p.m. Eastern, making his scheduled time of the 9 p.m. hour, but would eventually slip back after speeches appeared to go beyond their allotted time.

The 12:18 a.m. Eastern ending for Biden’s speech was later than former President Donald Trump’s lengthy acceptance speech on the final night of the Republican National Convention last month. Trump’s speech, which began roughly on time in the 10 p.m. Eastern hour, at 10:32 p.m., ended at 12:05 a.m.

While Democratic officials argue the delayed start for Biden’s speech was due to the program running long, some speculated the delays pushing the president out of network prime-time coverage of the convention were intentional.

CHICAGO – President Biden delivered his highly anticipated address to the Democratic National Convention late Monday night and touched on a variety of subjects including strong criticisms of former President Trump and the conflict between Israel and the Hamas terrorist organization in control of Gaza.

"Those, those protesters out in the street, they have a point," Biden told the crowd in the United Center after anti-Israel protesters marched on the convention calling for an end to the U.S. support of Israel. "A lot of innocent people are being killed on both sides."

"We're working around the clock," Biden said. "To end the civilian suffering of the Palestinian people and finally, finally, finally deliver a ceasefire and end this war."

"We're working around the clock. My Secretary of State, to prevent a wider war and reunite hostage to their families and surge humanitarian, health and food assistance into Gaza. Now. To end the civilian suffering of the Palestinian people and finally, finally, finally deliver a cease-fire and end this war."

In the same speech, Biden repeated the claim that Trump said there were "fine people" on "both sides" of the 2017 Charlottesville protest which has been debunked by several fact checkers.

Criticizing Trump was a major theme in Biden's speech, which did not conclude until after midnight on the East Coast.

"I never thought I'd stand before a crowd of Democrats and refer to a president who's a liar so many times," Biden said. "Now, I'm not trying to be funny. It's sad."

So Joe Biden left the national stage the same way he has always stood on it: as a coward, as a bully, as a lying fabulist.  His speech last night was one long paean to the aggressive, fist-shaking hate and vicious slander against his opponents that have been his trademark for the half a century he has been a giant boil on the political buttocks of the great American experiment.

 The man never created a penny of wealth in his life, but he did dedicate himself for 50 years to sucking at the teat of the wealth we taxpayers created.  He wasted the lives of America’s service members in useless conflicts that he later claimed to oppose.  He acted in the most un-American manner possible by using the courts to persecute his political opponents for the high crime of mere dissent.  He made himself and his entire family wildly rich through graft and the sale of America’s foreign policy to the highest bidder.

 A low-IQ, ignorant plagiarist whose entire life was recounted as one long distortion and made-up story, he succeeded through sheer animal cunning and a willingness to say or do anything to advance his narcissistic self-interest.  He is immoral, he is a compulsive liar, and he is evil to his rotten core.

At the very last, he had a chance to redeem himself and speak straight to America about how he was deposed in a Beltway coup, but he stayed true to his craven nature and capitulated in a shameful display of propaganda designed to appease his torturers.

In a few years, Joe will be in the ground and Jill will write her tell-all book about what actually happened when Craven Joe was forced to step aside through blackmail and extortion.  The media savants will all shake their heads as if “How could we have known?”  You know now.  We all know now.  Joe knows now. And just like that, to the bitter end, we’re supposed to believe something about Joe Biden that is obviously untrue.
