The California Insurance Commission (or whatever the name of the moron-agency is) decided to stick it to insurance companies, and insurance companies started doing what the commission thought unthinkable, they shrugged. Six months or so ago it was already getting difficult to get fire insurance in some areas, so many fire victims got caught between the perfect storm of city, county, state, and Federal incompetence and cluelessness, shrugging insurance companies, near-hurricane-force winds, and fires getting started in the perfectly awful place.
