Harris up by 5 on Rasmussen vs. Trump
« on: August 02, 2024, 12:23:59 pm »

RMG Research
@RMG_Research
.
@ScottWRasmussen
 national survey

@KamalaHarris
 47%
@realDonaldTrump
 42%
@RobertKennedyJr
 6%

I know that righties tend to like/trust Rasmussen above all others.

It's not good, that's for sure.

Pollster Scott Rasmussen tweeted on Friday that Vice President Kamala Harris was leading former President Donald Trump in his latest national poll by five points.

Rasmussen’s polling from his company RMG Research — not to be confused with the far-right-leaning Rasmussen Reports — was posted on Twitter/X without including complete polling data (margin of error, methodology, etc.) but was still notable for the jump by the new presumptive Democratic presidential candidate in under two weeks’ time.

just a thought, would a running poll thread be useful? So we could keep these all in the same thread?

Former President Donald Trump still leads Vice President Kamala Harris, but the margin has narrowed, especially when third-party candidates are factored into this year’s election.

The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone and online survey finds that, in a two-way matchup, 49% of Likely U.S. Voters would vote for Trump, while 44% would vote for Harris. Four percent (4%) say they’d vote for some other candidate and two percent (2%) are undecided. A week ago, Trump led by seven points over Harris, 50% to 43%, in the first survey since President Joe Biden announced he would withdraw his reelection bid. (To see survey question wording, click here.)

The survey of 2,163 U.S. Likely Voters was conducted on July 24-25 and 28-31, 2024 by Rasmussen Reports. The margin of sampling error is +/- 2 percentage points with a 95% level of confidence. Field work for all Rasmussen Reports surveys is conducted by Pulse Opinion Research.

RMG Research is actually a different firm (headed by Scott Rasmussen) than oft cited Rasmussen Reports.  Scott Rasmussen left RR in 2013, and now it is run by a group that publishes results favoring Republican candidates.

This election is looking more like 2012

Trump will probably carry the same exact states he did in 2020

I can’t think of any he could lose

For all practical purposes, Trump will probably carry the same states he did in 2020

I can’t think of any he could lose

It's hard to tell where things will settle out after Labor Day.  Biden was going to lose all of the close states in the sun belt.  She could possibly win all of his 2020 states plus North Carolina, if the democrat convention goes well enough.

And if she picks a moderate vice president that the public deems as acceptable

I just look at that, too.
Trump still ahead, narrowly.
Trump leading in all "swing states" too, except Michigan.

The Harris bump will continue until after the convention.

I think Trump's moronic comments at the NABJ hurt him.  He made some very dumb comments.  He went into the lion's den, and he was offended when they treated him rudely.  His comment, regarding Harris, 'she was an Indian, and now she is calling herself black'.  Why?  Why?  Why?  To use the infamous words of Hillary, WHAT DIFFERENCE DOES IT MAKE?  None.  He should not discuss race at all.

All he should say is I WELCOME THE OPPORTUNITY TO COMPETE AGAINST HARRIS, AND RACE IN MY MIND IS NOT A CONSIDERATION.  Better he say that to blacks, who overwhelmingly are about race in their vote.  Harris I expect will get 88% of the black vote voting for her only because she is black, with no thought given to her competence.  None!!!

A reminder to avoid falling into polling traps.
The public has become conditioned to a lightning fast news cycle, and the 90-plus days left until Election Day is an eternity in political time.

The devastating economic news today could be the beginning of something worse. Also, Trump hatred is deep within the deep-state, and the media, and I wouldn’t put anything past them.

Avoid any “red-wave” talk like the plague, and don’t get depressed about the fake Kamala “bump” either. Just get out and vote, and take ten people with you.
