The USSS said AFL had not "demonstrated there is a particular urgency to inform the public about the movement activity involved in the request, beyond the public's right to know about government activity, generally."

After America First Legal filed a Freedom of Information Act request to obtain the documents related to the amount of Secret Service (USSS) agents in the agency, the Biden administration's USSS office denied the request, saying that that the information was not "urgent" for public release. This comes after the assassination attempt on Donald Trump.
According to a document released by AFL, when the legal organization had made a FOIA request for "reports relating to USSS's progress in meeting its staffing targets," the USSS office declined the measure, saying that AFL had not "demonstrated there is a particular urgency to inform the public about the movement activity involved in the request, beyond the public's right to know about government activity, generally."
AFL wrote, posting the rejection memo, "Biden’s Secret Service is delaying the processing of a FOIA we filed following the assassination attempt of President Trump because they claim there is not: 1. Any threat to the life or safety of anyone; 2. Any urgency to inform the public about government activity."
