Gas prices continue to drop heading into the weekend, with an average price of $3.471 per gallon for regular-grade gas on Friday.
This was cheaper than yesterday’s price of $3.487 per gallon, according to AAA. The average cost for a gallon of regular-grade gasoline in the country has continued to drop since shortly before the Memorial Day weekend.
Three states now have an average gallon of regular-grade gasoline priced under $3. In Oklahoma, regular-grade gas costs $2.996 per gallon, and in Arkansas, it costs $2.991 per gallon. However, Mississippi remained the state with the cheapest gas in the nation on Thursday, coming in at $2.973 per gallon.
California remains the state with the most expensive gas in the country. However, after weeks of costing over $5 per gallon of regular gas, the state broke the $5 a gallon threshold for two days in a row, coming in at $4.96 on Friday. This is a decrease from yesterday’s price of $5.002 per gallon. A month ago, gas was $5.353 per gallon for regular-grade gas in the Golden State.
