In all fairness, the Edsel was ahead of its time automotively, and the design was a bit radical for the styles that were generally accepted.
EVs aren't ready for prime time, and the whole climate excuse isn't flying.
Put a product out that can compete, on all bases, maybe they'd have more acceptance.
But now you'd still have to overcome the 'If the Government insists you have it, I ain't buying' inertia as well, even if the product was demonstrably better (which it isn't).
