New York officials say that 161,000 migrants have arrived in the city in the past 18 months
New York's Democrat mayor Eric Adams has launched a blistering attack on Joe Biden, accusing him of failing to get a grip of the country's migrant crisis.
A surge in the arrival of asylum seekers has seen a number of states publicly demand more help from the White House.
Yesterday Adams announced he was imposing new restrictions on asylum seekers being bussed into his city until Biden took action.
No busses filled with asylum seekers will be allowed into the city for the immediate future.
Adams said in a press conference: "We cannot continue to do the federal government’s job."
The mayor added: "The federal government said to New York City: ‘We’re not going to do our job – you do our job.
"'You take care of 4,000 people a week, Eric, you and your team’."
